well i'm not exactly pleased at wots going on at celtic in the close season i'm not gonna turn against them wen we still have'nt played a competitive match yet. It's like last year being written off b4 anything has actually happened. The Daily Ranger "experts" have all tipped Rangers to win the league like last year so hopefully it turns out the same again.

Thompson - leftover from MON's era, played less and less, and WGS's been trying to offload him.

Balde - MON gave him his current contract, and WGS can't get rid of him seeing as he's our best defender. Unless Bobo is willing to take a wage cut I doubt there's much Strach can do.

Telfer - agreed.... for now... I still feel that by September we'll have Wilson playing there, a new player in the LB position and Telfer will just be cheap cover.

Lennon - I don't feel the need to repeat my opinions on Lennon, but to put it simply: I agree with you. I think the only reason why we resigned him was because of fan pressure. The knives are/were out against Strachan and letting a fan favourite go might have forced him out of the door.

nothing would give me greater pleasure jarad to say all was well and im looking forward to the new season...but I feel to say nothing would only encourage the board ...we had strachan foisted upon us ...they couldnt even wait till the season was over..then announce it hours before the last game of the season ...a game we had to win...strachan is the boards choice... the fans had no say...we just seem to have got rid of the best and kept the worst and added insult to injury by bringing in third rate players ...im fed up with their excuses...they have no interest in the fans whatsoever ...only how much they can get out of them with little in return

I am led to think of the former pesident of the USA who had a sign on his desk saying "the buck stops here" and that is applicable to Strachan. Never mind the blaming the board, if Strachan can't fight his own corner it's time he moved on. Its nice that he has got a few Bosmans in but are we really happy with the standard of team spirit that we sense at the club? All this talk of looking for a big striker does not make sense given that he is looking for other teams cast offs. I know Sutton and Hartson were other teams cast offs but MON was able to motivate them and get them playing to an acceptable standard. I'd have to say that of all the players Strachan has brought to Celtic probably only Boruc and Naka can be looked on as up to standard, and sometimes Naka needs a reminder. I know there's time to get in the players we require before the window closes but I sense that maybe the excuse of no money is about to be trotted out again and the SGU(Strachan geriatric unit) pressed into service for anothet season.

At the moment I'm in the States on holiday so I'm getting my news on the internet via the Daily *.Both Old Firm clubs win 1-0 against mediocre English clubs. The view on Celtic is that it is a mini disaster while the Rankers rebuilding program is on course to win everything before them.Unfortunately this forum is going the same way. Wait until the real games get under way and then we will see whether we are going backwards or forwards. There is no need to panic yet.

seriously ffs, what is going on in that head of yours.
MON was the manager of the greatest celtic side since the 70's, and you're saying * like that.

MON was given absolutely noting to build on after he took us to our third european final, if he had, we'd have been a champions lreague last 8 team at worst.

the team MON left with the last day heartache was still a better side than that which won the league of late. remember we won that league against the worst rangers team in memory, and also the worst SPL in a long long time.

p.s i'm not * off with strachan, he's done a good enough job so far.

what does get to me about strachan is that he just accepts whatever * budget is given to him, letting top players like sutton and BBJ go because of their wages, and i don't need to explain the recent dublin fiasco.

Lets be honest, selling Hartson and possibly bringing in Dublin ain't good management. Playing Paul Telfer for a full season and winning a double is a miracle in its self.

GS is creating results with nothing and cleaned up the fallout from the MON era, few in the world could have done anything better

Larsson, Lubo, and almost 30m.... aye, right, nothing.

Strachan won the league by a mile against nearly the same Rangers team that pipped MON's last squad for the league in 2005. That Rangers team also made it to the second round of CL (* group, I know, but it was an accomplishment which needed a good team nonetheless).

Read my post again numb-nuts, I did not say that MO'N was a bad manager or belittle his achievements, I'm just not blinkered like yourself thinking that he could do no wrong.

He inherited some fantastic players when he arrived - Larsson, Lambert, Lubo and Petrov, so he wasn't starting with *-all.

His record in the transfer market was good at the top end, but when he tried to bring in bargains he made plenty of mistakes (Fernendez, Laursen, Sylla)

His complete failure to use the bosman market in 5 years (I could be wrong but did he sign anyone on a bosman?)

Giving players ridiculous new contracts instead of trying to rebuild a tired looking team.

Martin was great while money was available, but with the club reducing the wage bill and debt WGS seems to be the right man for that particular set of circumstances.

RE- Anyone else gettin * off with strachan

How can you say that, he was pretty succesful last season we would say, facts prove that . .. Ill bet part of the reason that MON left was regarding refinancing of a new squad..

GS has done that... he accepts the budget in place that are outwith his control, and there is 5 weeks left..

Getting shot of Hartson, fair enough 500k , but isnt just 500k, probably another 500k in excess wages for a replacement, anyone could see that JH was not in the best shape recently. I do not doubt GS judgement of players..

Lets look whats happens in the coming months
