Bit of an over reaction. He had a quiet game against probably the best team in the world and should be dropped?

    People just don't like Stokes.

They look for anything to have a dig.

    It's that simple.

Stokes is not getting goals in Cl,if that does not change we need to try something new.
Liking or not liking has nothing to do with it.

So drop the ones who arent creating the chances then? I could understand if Stokes was missing sitters left right and centre but he isnt.

He was quiet enough tonight but put in a decent shift as he always does, and also played a decent ball into Samaras which with a bit of luck could have resulted ina goal.

Seems to me people are just looking for a Scapegoat.

The service to the front two wasn't the best tonight but Stokes was invisible. He's no good enough to play at this level. I've said it before and he's done nothing in these first two group matches to convince me I'm wrong.

    Nonsense. Absolute nonsense.

Stokes worked hard and wasn't remotely responsible for us losing but he is out of his depth at this level. There's no shame in that and there aren't many alternatives amongst our forwards we currently have who are either. Nobody can say he was effective tonight.

I like Stokes, and he has had a great start to the season, but he was nowhere to be seen last night. I can barely mind him getting a touch. I said yesterday, that I thought Balde was our best suited striker for last nights game, and I would stand by that. We needed someone to contest long balls, as that was going to be a feature throughout the night, and Stokes just doesn't have the attributes required for that type of game.

    Quiet game,no service into him.

Anytime we got the ball off Barca we would either juat give it back to them or play it wide.

Out of his depth in comparison to who else on our team? Judging by last night the only ones not out of their depth at this level were Forster, Ambrose, Van Dijk and Samaras.

I dont remember Commons touching the ball and Matthews gave it away every time he got it but no one is claiming they are out of their depth.

In no way can you critique Stokes as a striker based on a performance against Barca when he has been ordered to perform a specific task.

He put the effort in same as a lot of others but like a lot of others did not get the opportunities to do the things he is good at because of the quality of the opposition.

Stokes is fine for the SPL, but I just don't think he's good enough for the higher level required during the CL.

Can't comment on Pukki as he hasn't really played enough yet, but personally I feel we'll struggle to get goals in the CL without Hooper.

Balde is still very raw & can see it taking a season or so to see progress in him.

We do need a better quality striker for the big CL games, think we might have missed the boat for this year, but we should be looking to spend a reasonable amount for next year on a proven goal scorer who can step up his game to the level required.

agreed, you've picked up the three players who I thought were out of their depth. Stokes, Commons and Matthews just don't have it at this level. When we had the likes of Wanyama and Hooper playing we had a solid 11, now we have no many weaknesses and very little going forward.

Okay so AM didn't have a particularly good game last night. But you soon forget his performance in the San Siro. No one was saying he wasn't good enough then

Some fans really are unbelievable. Stokes tracked back, closed down barcas midfield, when he had the bad in there half he looked dangerous and played a few passes that on another day could have lead to a goal.

We got beat off barca, thr greatest team in the world in my eyes with 10 men and were really unlucky not to have won the match or at least get a draw.
