Great ball in to help setup the second. Suited the game we played tonight, particularly the physical side and playing longer balls into danger areas.

Just watching the highlights. Had good positive involvement in 3 of the goals. So not always backwards.

At one point in the first half I thought he was going to dislocate his hip trying to pass it back to Trusty

He never lets us down really. Physical, goes right through players, and that will be needed on Sunday.

Need him there until AJ is back.

I liked when he got stuck into Arfield. The kind of aggression we lacked at the weekend.

Thought he was solid last night, much bigger test on Sun.

I loved the way big Ralston got stuck into Ryan Kent too.

Kent had been flying too before, until he ran into the * brickhouse called Anthony Ralston.

He did put a nice ball in for the 2nd last night..

He looked fired up, it was important last night the Bhoys who know the club turned up last night.

On Sun, the Huns seem to have changed their formation, so there's less chance of exposure 1v1.. he has limitations but edges it for me over Donovan for Sun, for me..

Would like us to go into the market it Jan tho for a Juranovic type.

Aye I gave him his flowers for the second..

Agree about him over Donovan but we need a way better backup moving forward as you say. He honestly won't do for when Johnston is out..

Much better performance last night from Ralston. Hopefully he can build on that for Sunday as well. This is one area though where I am not going to jump all over the board for his obvious limitations. We have Johnston who is arguably our best defender and one of our best players period. We do not have the resources to be paying real money for a high level backup a player like Ralston is about what we can hope for as we stand as a club resource wise and the fact that we have a promising teenager like Donovan emerging puts right back IMHO as the one position where when all are fit we are at our best in terms of what we can be as a club. Strong starter in Johnston, serviceable back up in Ralston and promising youngster in Donovan.

He's great when you don't need him to do anything substantial

I hate seeing his name on the team sheet, but I have to give him credit for that.

I genuinely think he'll be a really good manager one day, as he sees things other players don't. If only he wasn't slower than Mulgrew getting a piggyback on Majstorovic.

I would prefer Ralston for Sunday but I do think Donovan needs to take over Ralston's position in the squad for the future. I've seen enough in him for that. Maybe needs a loan to an SPFL side next year to fully see.
Ralston was solid on Weds so deservs to start

Donovan showed against Hearts he needs experience of defending. We also can't risk him playing full matches at present until we pull back points for that reason. Obvious that opportunitirs might not come very often when Johnston is back too.

A sane plan for him would be minutes at end of games when there is the opportunity and get him a loan in January and assess progress in the summer. Ideally a team in our league.

I do expect the changes in tactics to suit Ralston. His ability to play longer more direct balls looks like it will be encouraged by the interims.

Agree with those above that Ralston needs to start Sunday given Johnston is obviously out. More physical which we need and puts in decent service into the box as we saw on Wednesday.
