Anthony Ralston

He always does a job for us. Was solid today

 

Exactly what you want and expect in a back-up full-back. Dependable, solid. Clearly not as refined a player as Johnston, but knows his role at the club and does it very well.

Credit to Ralston, takes some stick at times and I've been a big critic of his in the past. But think he's having a really good season when called upon.

 

Perfect back up type player, can be trusted to come in seamlessly.

Great game tonight. Arguably MoTM. Touch when it looked like Greece would score was immense.

 

That header at back post first half too, well played

 

Had the game on the radio aye sounds like he played well

 

Well done Tony Ralston, part of a very solid defence display that stopped a good Greece side from scoring a single goal. Tony is the type of guy that you know won’t let you down. Ok against the truly elite international sides he struggles but I don’t think he has ever claimed to be a world beater, he’s just a very solid and reliable player for Scotland to call on when needed.

 

That's Croatia, Portugal and Greece he's played well against recently. Showed up well.

Agree, but obviously can't make a comment about his hairstyle as I cam only dream of having a head of hair like that

 

Played more games for Scotland than Celtic.

Underused unless Portugal, Poland, Croatia and Greece are worse than Dundee and St Johnstone

Really astounds me Rodgers let Johnston make it to half-time never mind the whole game against the Hun. Real blindspot.

 

He was outstanding tonight, he had a header at the back post that was exceptional reading of the game, his defending (don’t know if he got a touch but regardless they didn’t score because of him) for the one that hit the post.

He was excellent. Not just his do or die defensive performance, his passing was so positive and composed. I bang the drum about how dangerous he can be on the ball passing wise, and crossing that wasn’t really seen tonight, and he’s rarely seen that when he is even our fans are surprised for it. He’s not just the blood and guts defender, infact, he’s much more the positive attack minded sort of full back than he is defensive sort. He’s just that going forward and do or die at the back, and blood and guts. Still raging we didn’t put him on Sunday

 

More starts for Scotland than Celtic this season which is bizarre based on his last couple of Scotland performances.

Everyone knows he's not at level of AJ but he deserves more game time. Thought he was tremendous yet again for Scotland.

Seems to be another that Rodgers doesn't rate so barely gets a sniff with us.

 

I've always rated him and while you may not want to start him against Bayern he can do it domestic. Thought he was our best defender last night.

 

His positive passing last night is down to the coach, BR has a lot of our guys programed to pass the ball back to our center half's continuously.
Love big Ralston and there is no denying that AJ is levels above him, however he should be rotated more often, in the interest of freshening it up a bit.
