Ah, someone on KDS said he could still be in for second leg, confused me.

We are. There is no other way to look at it.

Last year, although thankfully we got through, you could forgive the club.

A new manager needs time which is why qualifying last year in those circumstances was exceptional.

However, we're going into this year's most important game and we're in serious danger.

    That should not be happening.

I'd say Patrick Roberts, Rivaldo Coetze and a new contract for Armstrong would make this a good, strong window for us.

But to have NONE of that at this stage is pretty *, really. That doesn't change how class we were last season. It just means, so far, it's been a bad window for us. 2 weeks to put it right, but we should have it right before this crucial Playoff Qualifier.

Not having it done before the most crucial games of the season is unforgivable.

    We're effectively * away 20-30m yet again.

That isn't 'good business' despite what PLC apologists like to pretend.

The sad thing is they'd use it as an excuse not to spend.

But last year, when we did make the group stages, we spent sweet * all. £1mil on Gamboa was all we brought in.

This year, we're clearly not prepared to spend before we make it.

So we don't spend before we make it, and we don't spend after we make it. When do we actually strengthen the squad? It's just a series of excuses on a loop.

At the end of the day Man City are holding Celtic to ransom on this. They want the lions share of the deal to pardon the pun and there's little the club can do. It's a business and if it allows this to happen once it opens the floodgates for other clubs to try it on. MC imo are daft because where are they going to send their young talented hopefuls to get CL experience? They don't want them playing in the EPL so Celtic is the best bet for that experience. We develop them, bring them on so it's a win win.

I've never understood the whole "we'll spend the money after our most important games of the season" mindset.

Strengthen the team, get Astana pumped, strengthen the team again.

I don't think that it's always about the spending power with us although in EPL terms we're minnows. I think that Celtic have to be savvy about their business or we will get walked all over by EPL sides. PL is respected by these types of people for a reason. It's all about who will break first and PL can't afford to make poor decisions.

We never improve ourselves from a position of strength. We've had several opportunities since 2000 and we haven't taken one. You could forgive a one-off mistake in not investing in the team, subsequently losing our dominant position and then learning from this error, getting back to a dominant position and never allowing that position to slip again. That's certainly what the Huns would do.

But with us, it's one step forward and ten steps back every single time. Given that season we've just had we should not be going into important qualifiers worried about the results and worried about not getting through. It should be a near certainty.

At the end of last season, I felt we would finally be going into these games prepared and more relaxed. Cannot believe the position we've allowed ourselves to get into.

Look at all your arses collapsing.

We can't be held to ransom by City. Remember what The Bunnet said about paying the correct price for a player.

If we can't beat Astana without Roberts then we shouldn't be in the Champions League. Desperately throwing money around and paying over the odds is EPL behaviour and beneath us. We always knew if we wanted Paddy we would have to wait until the end of the window with absolutely no guarantees.

Hold your nerve for * sake! I bet you lot pay full price when you get a new car.

As much as I agree 100% with the principle that we should be going into these games as best prepared as possible, it's a bit of a catch 22.

As Rodgers has said himself, the best players only start to become available towards the end of the window. There's very little logic in buying a winger two weeks ago who is say Forrest's standard, if there's a realistic chance of getting better (i.e. Roberts) later in the window. It all depends purely on how confident Rodgers is that the current squad is good enough to get through. Its risk and reward from both perspectives.

Personally, I think we'll get through relatively comfortably against Astana. I also refuse to believe that Roberts is in Girona until I see photographic evidence - he lived in Glasgow for 18 months and never posted a photo of a pint at the airport, so he can't be :fear:
