They could easily sell him to a BPL club for more than we are offering. Compromises have to be made if we are to get him I.e City get high percentage of future profit..

Never thought of that, was more worried that we'd get nothing for him when he left. You're right there would be absolutely no point in selling him before his contract had run out and City would get nothing.

PATRICK ROBERTS has been left out of Manchester City’s squad for their Premier League opener against Brighton.

The 20-year-old returned to the Premier League giants after an 18-month loan spell with Celtic.
However, fans have been desperate to see him make a return after Brendan Rodgers admitted he was keen on bringing the treble winner back to Parkhead.

Roberts is keen on a return to the Scottish champions and coach John Kennedy admitted yesterday the ball was in City’s court, as he said the club would have to be patient over Roberts’ future.

And they may have been handed a boost after City’s squad list for their opening match, against the newly-promoted Seagulls, emerged.

Youngster Tosin Adarabioyo, linked with Celtic earlier this year, has been included while outcast Samir Nasri is also in the mix.

Roberts featured in City’s US tour this summer, starting for Guardiola’s men against Manchester United in Houston.

When you put it like that actually it does make sense.

A high sell on fee is fair enough, especially with the way contracts of transfer are heading in today's fitba.

If they put in a 50% sell on fee, then we just hike his transfer value right up through the roof. Somecunt wants him? They'll need to stump up well over £30m...

Works out well for all parties. We get Paddy for long term, City make a profit when he moves on..

100% sell-on fee makes absolutely no sense, it takes 2 seconds of negotiating to put an end to it.

When it came time to sell him, why would we bother even negotiating? If we're getting 0% of it, it wouldn't matter to us if we sold him for £20million or £20,000.

If they really want to be the financial beneficiaries of this, then a big transfer fee and a 50-70% sell-on clause would be the tough demand to make. However, the bigger sell-on percentage we offer could perhaps bring the fee down.

I'd rather take him for £12million and a £50% sell-on clause than £8million and 70% of his next move going to City. Can't penny-pinch with this one, anyway. As crucial as he would be on-field, it's time we make a big signing intention-wise, and this is it. The only reason we're even linked with a player this fantastic is because of his emotional attachment after the loan-spell. He's THE very best we can possibly attract in the current football climate imo. It's honestly equivalent to Oldco signing Gascoigne back in 95, except he's young, not obese or alcoholic and has potential to get even better.

Oh thinkin' about all our younger years
There was only you and me
We were young and wild and free

Now nothin' can take you away from me
We've been down that road before
    But that's over now
You keep me comin' back for more

Roberts, you're all that I want
With Tierney there in your arms
I'm findin' it hard to believe
    We're in heaven

And Celtic is all that you need
And you found it there in your heart
    He's playing like Jinky Johnstone
    67

    Sorry.

I would love it if we could get this lad on a permanent deal. Towards the end of last season he was a real handful and he's only going to get better. I'll actually be pretty gutted if we end up in a scenario where we've lost Roberts and only have Jonny Hayes as his replacement in the wide areas. That's a big step backwards.
