I said last season there's no reason why we can't be the Man City of Scottish football in terms of squad depth and having 2 quality options for every position.

The business he has done reflects that ambition. He's orchestrated (almost single-handedly) a stunning turnaround in our squad. He's a * winner and has brought the best team spirit I've ever seen in a Celtic team as well.

Europe will be the big litmus test but so far there's no more superlatives in the dictionary to describe what he's done.

Knows football inside out. Can spot a player. Plays the game beautifully, Gets the club and everything that comes with it and is a gentleman.

    We're lucky to have him.

Ange Postecoglou has dropped an eleventh-hour Celtic transfer hint that could signal more incomings before tomorrow's deadline slams shut.

And it is signal that the Hoops boss admitted he won't have for the next few hours as Celtic travel home from a comfortable 4-1 win against Ross County in the Premier Sports Cup. It was wholesale changes from the side who thumped Dundee United, but with ever-reliable captain Callum McGregor opening the scoring. Goals from Giorgos Giakoumakis, Daizen Maeda and James Forrest then sealed the deal in Dingwall.

It was also a first outing in green and white for Sead Haksabanovic from the bench, with Alexandro Bernabei given his first start since arriving in the summer. And among the new recruits being shown, Postecoglou hinted that there could more to come before midnight on Thursday.

He told Premier Sports: "There's some things happening but I'll be on a bus for the next few hours, so I'll find out when I get off! "It's a pain isn't it [having no signal] but I'm sure other people are working on it."

CELTIC manager Ange Postecoglou tonight admitted he is hopeful of strengthening his squad even further before the summer transfer window closes.

Postecoglou’s side booked their place in the Premier Sports Cup quarter-final with a comfortable 4-1 triumph over Ross County in Dingwall this evening that stretches their winning run to six games.

First-half goals from Callum McGregor and Giorgos Giakoumakis and second-half strikes from Daizen Maeda and James Forrest secured a last eight game against Motherwell at Fir Park.

Postecoglou, who made no fewer than nine changes to his starting line-up, was pleased with how his team performed ahead of their cinch Premiership match against Rangers at Parkhead on Saturday.

The Greek-Australian coach, who has spent over £18m on eight new players this suymmer, has been linked with defensive midfielder Oliver Abildgaard of Rubin Kazan.

However, he is optimistic he will be able to bring in further reinforcements before the window closes at midnight.

Asked what fans can expect on deadline day, he said: “They can expect some transfers and ins and outs. We will see what happens over the next 24 hours.”

Asked about Abildgaard, Postecoglou said: “There has been a lot of names. Obviously, there are still 24 hours to go and some outgoings we are still working on as well. We will see how things fall over the next 24 hours."

Everything that Ange Postecoglou said to the media after Celtic's 4-1 League Cup win over Ross County...

What are your thoughts on that performance and victory?

I was really pleased and all credit to the boys as I made nine changes tonight and that can easily affect the fluency and cohesion of the team. I keep saying these boys train really hard every day and they are prepared for their opportunity and they did that tonight. I thought they were outstanding. To come here and win 4-1 against a difficult opponent is a credit to the players.

There were some good debuts from [Aaron] Mooy, [Alexandro] Bernabei and [Sead] Haksabanovic - what were your thoughts on them?

I think all the boys did well and we didn't have anyone who did not perform to the levels that we would want them to and they aspire to. For a lot of boys, it was their first start and they could easily have used this game as an excuse to build into the season but nobody out there looked as if they hadn't been playing and that is a credit to them.

What is your reaction to drawing Motherwell in the League Cup last eight?

It is another away game and it would be nice to be at home. It will be a good challenge for us and the most important thing is that we are still in it. In a cup game, the ultimate aim is to get to the next round and it is pleasing for me that we did that in a convincing way and we have another round to go and that is the most important thing.

You have strength in depth and you made nine changes does that show the confidence levels that you have right now?

I picked a team tonight that I thought would win us the game. I didn't pick a team because I was looking ahead to other games. It was just that I felt that we put a lot of effort into the weekend. I could have gone with the same team but we would not have got the same intensity or energy levels. Being able to call upon the guys tonight we started the game brightly and I think everybody saw that. The only reason we haven't changed the game a lot is that we are playing one game a week. We saw last year when we played the kind of football we want if you rely on a certain core of players eventually they will break down. Now we are in a better position where I don't need to do that and make sure we have everyone in really good condition.

There were some quality goals scored again - weren't there?

It is really good to see that the boys are working hard at training and playing in patterns and in the front third. We are becoming more clinical which is pleasing for me and it is still the hardest part of the game putting the ball in the back of the net. We are finding ways to do that through our team play and moments of individual stuff but there were some quality goals.

What can Celtic fans expect from transfers before the window shuts?

They can expect some transfers and ins and outs. We will see what happens over the next 24 hours.

Rubin Kazan midfielder Olivier Abildgaard is that a name that is familiar to you?

He is a name yes. He is definitely a name. There have been a lot of names and there are 24 hours to go we are working on some outgoings and we will see how things go over the next 24 hours.

Stephen Welsh picked up a knock - how is he?

He had a little bit of a niggle with his groin. He thought he could persevere and it got worse in the second half hopefully it is nothing too serious. Looking at it, it didn't look too bad and we will assess it tomorrow.

Mikey Johnston - are you still looking to put him out on loan?

Yes, we are still working on that and there are a couple of good possibilities for him.

Will you be glad when the window shuts?

No. I'm alright. It doesn't bother me but it is a lot less hectic than last year - I think there was 10 minutes to go before we signed Cameron Carter-Vickers and that was a more stressful time. This window has been good for us and we kind of knew what we wanted to do. We moved at the right time and we got our guys in nice and early. We've done our business early and the players have embedded themselves in the team and irrespective of our objectives in this window we have come out looking pretty healthy.

Six wins in six games, that is decent form going into the Rangers game?

Our form has been good and we have been improving every game. We had a little bit of an unusual start because it is only one game a week and we used pre-season to replicate the two games a week schedule. The boys were working really hard in the first two or three weeks of the season and you could see that and we may not have been as sharp as we have been in the last couple of weeks. I think every week we are improving and it has been positive so far. We now look to the next challenge and make sure we are ready for that.

I'm a bit concerned we haven't given him a long term deal yet.
