I must say that Ange speaks very well and is good to listen to, compared to many managers who can be very dour in pressers and in interviews.

Now that the dust has settled im in total awe of the way hes got the players playing. I know he wont be our manager forever but we can all just enjoy him while he is with us for a few years

I have always been of the opinion that a manager should never be appointed on long term contracts, but i would easily give Ange a 3-4 year deal on a very high wage. I have never had such confidence in a Celtic manager.

4 year minimum then he goes with my blessings to the premier league where he will tear it up with a big budget to play with .

Which is great, as it's obviously working. Both wingers are clearly instructed to cut in towards the box too, which has been so effective for us. BUT... it's also great to see us scoring from corners now, and from more shots outside the box. We need that variety over the course of the season. Which is another reason it's great to have the option of both Kyogo and GG.

That Open Goal interview Ange done was excellent. Especially when he's talking about tactics, training and the Champions League.

Funny bit in there aswell about when his career was starting off he took over some low level team in Australia and about 8 guys quit because his standards were so high lol

ANGE POSTECOGLOU has opened up on the infamous TV interview which left him "almost unemployable".

The Celtic boss had just lost his job as Australia youth team boss when his career stalled as he was knocked back for a number of roles over a heated TV exchange.

Postecoglou had appeared on an Australian football show after failing to qualify for the youth World Cup with his young Aussie side - and he was slammed by pundit Craig Foster and urged to resign.

The Celtic boss had defended his position in the national team set-up in the fierce interview - but admits he knew he was leaving in the future.

What the manager did not expect was to then face a couple of years out of the game as a result of the on-air clash.

Opening up on the incident on Open Goal, Postecoglou commented: "I started at South Melbourne and I had four years and we won a couple of championships.

"Then I got the gig as national team boss for the under-20s and under-17s. I did that for seven years and had some success early on but the last two we didn't qualify for the World Cups and I lost my job.

"If you jump on YouTube it's probably the first thing that comes up, I did a famous interview with someone that didn't go well and I was almost unemployable at the time.

Pretty much in Australia anyway because that was the market then.

"I'd even applied for a couple of assistant roles and I didn't get them.

"I was ready to go overseas and just pure dumb bizarre luck an opportunity came up. Somebody in the game said 'Look, give him a crack' and that's how I got the Brisbane job and sort of kicked off from there."

And Postecoglou added: "It was brutal at the time.

"I kind of knew at the time I was leaving the role anyway and he wanted me to say on air that I was resigning and I would take full responsibility - that's their job, they kind of want to build it up.

"The problem with that was that's how people looked at me after that."

The Celtic boss - who won the Scottish Premiership and Premier Sports Cup in his first season in Glasgow - went on to achieve success in Australia and Japan and coach his country.

But he revealed he had a job offer pulled out from under him after a chairman discovered the interview with a deal to appoint him as boss agreed.

Postecoglou said: "There was one job I actually got and then the owner hadn't seen the interview, he just saw the interview and they pulled out.

"Like 'Nah, we can't have this guy as manager of the football club'.

ANGE Postecoglou has told his Celtic players to ignore the forthcoming fixtures against Rangers and Real Madrid and focus fully on the Premier Sports Cup match against Ross County.

Excitement is growing among the Parkhead club’s supporters about the cinch Premiership match against their Glasgow rivals on Saturday and the Champions League group stage encounter with the Spanish giants a week tomorrow.

Callum McGregor and his team mates romped to a record-breaking 9-0 triumph over Dundee United at Tannadice on Sunday to maintain their 100 per cent record in the 2022/23 campaign and return to the top of the league table.

Their fans are hopeful they can forge further ahead of their nearest challengers in the Premiership and defeat the reigning European champions if they can produce a repeat their Tayside display.

However, Postecoglou is only concerned with his charges launching the defence of the League Cup, the first trophy that he lifted in this coountry back in December, with a win in Dingwall tomorrow night and keeping their hopes of landing a treble alive.

The Greek-Australian can recall how it took an injury-time goal from Anthony Ralston to record a narrow 2-1 victory over Malky Mackay’s side at the Global Energy Stadium last year and knows his team will need to be at their very best to triumph.

Asked if the 9-0 rout of United would give Celtic confidence ahead of the Rangers and Real Madrid matches, he said: "I don't look at it like that as we have 50 odd difficult games to come.

"We have one on Wednesday night and that's the only one at the forefront of my mind. Ross County away, as we all know is such a difficult proposition, particularly in midweek and in a cup game. From my perspective, that's where our interest lies.

"We need to get the job done there and play our football and then tackle the next task beyond that. We knew these games were coming and we have worked hard with the full squad to make sure we are ready.”

Meanwhile, Postecoglou has singled out one Celtic player for special praise following the resounding triumph over United at the weekend – goalkeeper Joe Hart.

The former England internationalist suffered a head knock after making a save from a Glenn Middleton shot in the second minute of the Tannadice match and required six minutes of medical attention before continuing.

He was hardly involved thereafter – but his manager believes he set the tone for the showing early on and ensures the Scottish champions perform at their best in every training session and game due to their professionalism.

Asked how Hart was, he said: "He's fine, he didn't have a lot to do and maybe his performance will be overlooked but he's such a professional and drives the standards every day.

“On Sunday we could maybe have gone a goal down and that may wake you up, but he doesn't allow that to happen. He makes a great save and shows the bravery to dive at the opponent's feet. It's a credit to him.”

That was top level at the time.

Game only went fully professional in 2004.

Cheers for clarifying that. I will be honest I don't have a clue about the history of the game in Australia. It was just the way Ange worded it that it sounded like he dropped a couple levels just to get a coaching gig. But what I do know is from that interview alone you could probably make a Coach Carter type film on Ange's career lol

He's the very opposite of Ted Lasso though. An absolute football purist from Day One as a coach (when he was 9). It's just that no-one could keep up with him until he reached the upper echelons of the game. Transformed the game in Oz - did brilliantly in Japan - and now he's transforming not just Celtic but maybe the rest of the SPL when they inevitably start trying to copy his methods.

And Ange being Ange, I don't think he'd mind that, because he's the sort of bloke who first wants only the best for football generally.
