He was still manager when he said that on Open Goal, which makes it even worse.

“You gotta remember where I started. Where I started was probably below the (Scottish) Premiership level in management - I was in a semi-pro sort of competition…”

The current Australian league, which is miles ahead of when he was talking about, is so * that duds like Jason Cummings have torn it apart.

Are we? news to me and probably every other Australian. We hate them * just as much as everyone else. The media like every western country are the only ones throwing their * down our throats.

Just some context around those comments if they are in fact accurate.

Firstly Postecoglou is fiercely proud of his time at South Melbourne. He's not going to * on them or the NSL.

Secondly, its by no means agreed that the A-League has better quality players than what the NSL produced.

I thought that when it was all going on.

Not only the manager but players and staff too....I'm no royalist either but the whole episode was embarrassing and any decent being keeps their thoughts to themselves especially around the death of a person.

    It wasn't embarrassing..

It was an amusing, even clever response..

The ‘if you hate the royal family clap your hands’ was genius :giggle1:

They switched to an applause in case of any booing/chanting and it backfired.

I thought it was perfectly pitched TBH. It attacked the institution not the person and if Ange or anyone else doesn't want the GB making their political views on the monarchy clear, they can ask the league to stop ramming their views down our throats with applauses that nobody asked for.

As others have pointed out, it was also very clever.

He said he started below Premiership level and where he started was a semi-pro level. He wasn’t slagging our league off.

Regarding the haggis thing, he was asked if it was good or bad and he said it was terrible. I couldn’t really give a * if he likes the taste of haggis or not. Plenty don’t.

Can’t beat the close season when debate turns to an ex managers view on haggis :giggle1:

    * him. We made him and he grew in confidence to the level he thought he was bigger than the club.

Graham Spiers had a podcast out after the cup semi where we were filmed signing "you can shove your coronation up your *". As you'll be aware, that particular clip went viral.

All three contributors to Spiers' podcast, and Spiers himself, said that when they were at the game, Ange appeared to be really lapping up the anti-royal chanting. This led to a discussion about Ange probably being a republican - something very common in Oz. The concensus was: Ange is a republican and his playing up to the support was "dangerous" lol

Same with my Aussie buddy here in Chicago. Hates the POMs. I would also say that the origin of the word POM is open to debate. What you have above is one possibility but it is open to debate. Another is that it is short for Pomegranate a nickname for the English due to their ruddy faces.

When I was in Oz the explanation I got was it meant Prisoner Of Mother England.

Never heard any alternatives to it up until this thread.

My friend is from Sydney plus my brother lives in Perth so thats how I heard about the whole pomegranate thing and that there were a few different interpretations. Either way it all amounts to the same thing.

Ange would not give a flying fig about Royal Family, the only ones who do are the poms who come out here. Australia will become a republic within 5 years and all this royal family corruption can * off
