That's the old Tampa Bay Logo. I wish they would bring back that logo and uniform scheme. The Orange Cream look is way more bad * then the current look they've got going.

Tampa Bay only won anything after they changed uniforms. Back in the orange days, they were perennially one of the worst teams in the NFL.

Does anyone believe that a team's uniform can have a subliminal effect on it's players and ultimately affect it's performances?

The Broncos couldn't win a Superbowl for toffee until they abandoned their orange uniforms with the light blue helmet. As soon as they switched over to wearing dark blue they won two in quick succession.

And like Diegan said, the Bucs were absolutely hopeless when they had their old uniforms. Once they changed over to their current garb they ended up winning a Superbowl too.

The Patriots are another franchise that were hapless and racked up losing seasons at an impressive rate. When they changed their logo and uniform they improved and are now one of the premier franchises in the NFL.

Can this all be pure coincidence?

I don't think so... the Steelers have virtually never changed their uniform and they've been fairly successful. Also, for many of those teams, the changing of the uniform came at a time when the organization knew that the team was one of the best ever, and they were trying to capitalize on that by making it seem like it was almost a new team. This was the case with Tampa Bay in particular. They had one of their best teams ever when they decided to switch, it was a way of energizing their market with something "new." So it's almost the opposite of that, a revitalized team with a good chance of winning might make the team "rebrand" because it will energize the fanbase to get behind the team now that they can actually win.

That is just brilliant stuff. They were all pretty much spot on. The Carolina one was tops for me. Just classic:56:

Ahh, I figured it out once he said it was the old one.
For some reason I kept thinking it was a logo to a restaurant. Like one of those surf and turf seafood buffets you get down around the Gulf coast.

I think most teams could do well to have their uniforms stop looking so * futuristic. I love the way the Steelers/Bears/Packers uniforms look. Old school. It just feels like Gridiron Football

I'm the same... it's cool seeing all the throwback unis that are being used this season.

The Bills lost to a team who's quarterback only completed 2 PASSES in the whole game. Now that's impressive! :56:

Yesterdays college games were pretty good again.
Florida - LSU wasn't bad, though I was far from impressed with LSUs' defense. They looked like a slow B10 defense to me. LSU does not look like a top team to me.
Michigan - Iowa was an awesome game
For me, Wiscy - OSU was good -- but I'm still far from impressed with the offense, which will be exposed against any top-10 team. Defense and special teams accounted for 21 of 31 points. That said, this defense is easily one of the best in the country right now. They dominate, they tackle in the open field, and they hit hard.
Of course Nebraska - Missouri was also a very good game on Thursday.

Watching Seattle - Jax right now... and either Seattle is a pretty good team (I didn't know TJ was out here now!) or Jax is really bad. They're making Seattle look great on offense and defense.
Cleveland lost a big game on the way to claiming the #1 overall draft pick. Not that they'd know what to do with it anyway. Tisk Tisk.

I look forward to seeing the Jets - Dolphins on MNF. Dropwards vs. Ohio Speed. I can't wait.

LSU? Slow? Demps is one of the best college sprinters in the nation (he was at the 100m Olympic trials before Beijing) and Florida was only able to score off an LSU DB biting on a pump fake. There were a few times when Florida's usually successful lateral running game was halted by LSU's speed. I've never heard anyone have an issue with that aspect of LSU's defense, and their open-field tackling was great I thought.

The Jacksonville game was pretty * up. They beat the Titans 37-17 just last week, but that's not looking impressive, so meh. Oh well, go Bolts.

They looked like bumbling junk most of the game to me. It felt like every play was a Florida guy trying to go somewhere off balance and eventually being team tackled after getting a couple of yards.
When people say "SEC Speed" I hope you don't think they're referring to RBs, WRs, and CBs ? Everyone has fast skill players, it's about linemen and linebackers and I was not impressed in that aspect.
Demps is Floridas' RB... not an LSU LB or DL.

I know, my point is that a guy like Demps is going to make anybody look slow. As always, we'll see what happens during the bowl season.

*edit* Actually, looking at the stats, you appear to be right. LSU has the SEC's 7th-ranked defense and the nation's 40th-ranked. I just assumed that an SEC team in the top 5 is going to be built on defense, but no dice I guess. And the Florida game wasn't even that bad for them, so they must have had some real stinkers before that as well.

I've seen flashes of Demps so far and I haven't been too impressed. There's a lot more to being a RB than just speed... like finding the hole. Maybe I've only seen the wrong drives, but seems like he sometimes has a hard time getting out of the way of his own linemen ?
Anyway, my comment wasn't meant to disparage Floridas offense -- it did look like a mediocre first half but I half attribute that to the way they were playing. Seemed like the game was called very conservative to keep Tebow out of trouble and I'm willing to give a pass on those grounds.
Even then they looked miles better than Ohio State which had no excuses to play like crap but did. :31:
I was only unbanned from the OSU forums until this morning... otherwise I surely would've posted something like "We need an Offensive Coordinator" again and been banned again -- thankfully I saw 2 other people get temp bans for saying it instead of me.

Here is Jeff Demps's stat line:

    Carries: 44
    Yards: 390
    Y/C: 8.9
    TDs: 4

Last year he had 605 yards on 78 carries for 7.8 ypc. This year, 8.9 is the highest number for players with above 25 carries. Only one player with between 20 and 25 carries has a higher average, which is UF's Moody with a ridiculous 9.6 yards per carry.

Soooo.... yea, I'd say you're just watching him on bad drives. :icon_mrgreen:

Well, yes and no... quick check shows the large majority of that yardage was against cupcakes. He had something like 5ypa against LSU.
I didn't look at numbers from last year though.

LSU knew we were getting it out of Tebow's hands and they often had 8 in the box, and it was decently into 5, a 5.4 average looking at ESPN. That's still pretty decent for a true sophomore. I would be surprised if Demps has a total that low again for the rest of the year with the exception of Alabama should we play them in the SEC title game. Alabama is a team that is looking pretty spectacular.
