Superb tonight as were the whole defence.

 

Colossal never looked like being beaten 1 on 1

 

Rock solid tonight. Gave his everything.

 

A warrior. My man of the match. Dont think he put a foot wrong defensively. Superb attitude

 

Goes under the radar but for me there can't be 5 right-backs better than him in Europe.

I'd give you maybe Kounde and Akanji playing out of position really for Barca and Man City maybe have a bit more pace and skill than Johnston, Hakimi from PSG, maybe Alexander Arnold although he can't defend at all but is the best on the ball.

Other than that loads of the best teams only have guys like Vazquez, Llorente/Molina, Stanisic/Laimer/Boey, White/Timber and whoever.

 

Best game for us tonight by a mile, but he's not generally been great in Europe for us and has plenty of games he's average at best. He's nowhere near in the top 5.

 

Don't know, for me theres few if anyone who would get the better of him.

Hakimi can fly down the wing and is great going forward and Alexander Arnold is world class on the ball but other than them its guys like Kounde, Akanji and Ben White who are probably the top and they're more the style of Johnston.

I feel like we could play against Davies, Musiala, Vinicius and Mbappe in the one team who are all quality down the left side and you'd be comfortable that Johnston could get the better of them.

 

Gave a goal away at Parkhead against Bayern and was at fault for a couple of the Villa goals to name a few. Absoultely brilliant tonight though without a doubt.

Same, Brighton for example, Veltman does a job for them and is a decent player but overall when you watch them you think Johnston would walk into this team and they could probably give him £80k a week, could say the same of loads of teams Juventus, Atletico, Newcastle, Dortmund, Leipzig or whoever.

Loads a teams with decent money who he'd improve while probably tripling his wages.

He has the mentality and athleticism and solidity at the back that should be playing at the top level.

 

Honest to * so good, we will do well to keep him and I * hate saying that.

 

Thought he was unbelievable.

 

Tbh I'm like poster above there's not many rbs I'd be taking over him.

He is immense and a warrior.

Picking out errors on a defender doesnt prove anything, they all make mistakes.

 

Love his attitude and the way he speaks. Must be a great influence in the dressing room. Unbelievable performance from him.
