We are told by some (and alluded to by the board) that January is a difficult month to buy in, no one wants to sell, you have to pay more than you do in summer.
We are also told that left backs are hard to come by.

By these logics, we should get £5m for him at least...

We should be looking to punt him to anyone willing to pay £1m for him. even £500k would be good business. He’s an absolute utter dud. No if and or buts, the guy didn’t even make our CL squad and the only LB we have is Taylor. Says it all.

You also have to apply him being * into the equation, which means we're probably stuck with him until his contract expires or some team is daft enough to loan him.

Reckon he's a shoe in to win the Albian Ajeti squad member of the year award.

    What is his redeeming quality?

Not strong, not good in the air, positionally terrible, passing is woeful. He's done here.

Passing is harsh there I think.

However, the positioning and defensive acumen is genuinely non-existent

I think his passing is his worst attribute tbh. Atrocious.

You think his defensive positioning is better than his passing? I’ll die on the hill that there’s very few things in professional football worse than Bernabei’s defensive positioning or awareness. DIE ON IT.

Unfortunately this is more true man.

I've backed him before and really wanted him to do well. But it's just not gonna work at all.

Same with Mikey J as well. No point pretending otherwise

I think there were several giant deductive leaps whilst trying to apply that logic.

Do you disagree about the January window being more difficult to operate in? Usually in the middle of a season, with teams not wanting to let key players go for their own ambitions, who know they could get money in summer thats being offered at first anyway, so usually have no need to sell or want to sell if its a good player. We could buy * nb tbf, which we hopefully will do to another club with Bernabei

My super serious answer in reply was sarcasm and totally playing along with the humour :fear:

Hard to tell sometimes, the board lying about the difficulties of January window compared to summer is the lightest accusation against the * this week :56:

In fairness, I do hope we sting some daft club with him as well.

We've been stung far too many times in the past as well (albeit we do it to ourselves more often than not).

How on earth did a scout look at him and think he was a player, just a complete and utter waste of time and money.

All depends on his wage here really I think. How long is left on his contract? If its 2/3 years I’d loan him out, there’s a lot of mid table teams in the likes of Portugal or Belgium that his attacking side will be happily ignored. And if we’re smart we’ll make sure it’s a team that plays 3 at the back and wingbacks, because that seems like the only position he’d ever suit from what we’ve seen of him.
Aw I can see why it could happen, a much less physical slower paced league in South America, physically not challenged outwith the dirty bastarding tackles where they’d wipe out players but not physically bully them during a game. And rarely face counter attacks or 1v1 defending. It’s such a different style, almost a different game completely in South American leagues. I think the heat and different altitudes in different stadiums has made it develop in that style.

But the things we see him being beyond pathetic at, wouldn’t have came up as much over there. Probably why he’s beyond pathetic at them as well that.

Izzy had similar issues at times as well, but a lot of the time he had Joe Ledley carefully covering for him.

    @Liam Scales

The thing is mate he struggles even with the basics, i'd like to cut the guy a bit of slack but his signing has been an unmitigated disaster, there's no gettin away from it.

Absolutely no disagreement from me there mate, and me saying I can see how he was scouted and recommended is far from excusing it because if we recognise the differences they play in and what they need to thrive in Scotland at Celtic, Scouting a player and not having a clue about if he could deal with Scottish football - which he clearly can’t, and then spending £4m on him because he can have a decent highlight reel, that’s criminal.

And also, boys a *. Got caught drink driving, Rodgers tore him a new one pre-season about being professional. Nothing masks that mentality. He doesn’t seem like a guy who would be willing to knuckle down and learn.

Well travelled that one scout then. Nawrocki was BR, he played against him with his Leicester team, and kept an eye on him after he impressed and was pretty open about seeing him play and knowing his strengths when he signed.

Saying that though, I’m starting to doubt he was ever injured, he played a full 90 minutes apparently picked up an injury in that game, then has been inconsistencies about what the injury is and how long he’s out for. Pretty sure he randomly appeared on the bench in that period, and we left him out the CL squad, after originally saying out for 3 months I think. He looked good the games we seen him as well, but in the back of my mind is also the thought he was next to CCV, Kobayashi looked good next to CCV at first.

CCV has not had a partner next to him at anytime not be elevated by having him there. Even Starfelt struggled like * without him, the only two that showed they could do it without him and have been much better next to him as well have been Scales and Welsh. Who were two a lot of folk would have happily said off ye * to this summer.

in Scales case I liked him and wanted him to have a good Aberdeen career, canny claim I seen his start to the season coming but Welsh I hate how much he’s dismissed and downplayed, I really like him and want to see him developed more.

    This is actually my point.

We're signing these kids and theyre not "footballers". They're players. They have the talent, but a complete lack of footballing acumen, like vision, passing, positioning, and in lots of cases patience.

I put him in the exact same bracket as Yang, and MJ too. There's raw materials there. But zero footballer.

I think it's harsh to give up on them too soon. Punt them out on loan, see if they grow. If they don't, then by all means, say bye bye.
