    The Caen striker, 8th in Ligue 2, is of great interest to the Scottish club. The latter would have already made a proposal of 3 million euros in order to attract him.




    Will Caen lose its top scorer? It is not yet recorded but Alexandre Mendy (28 years old, under contract until 2024), author of 16 goals in 30 Ligue 2 matches this season, is courted by Celtic Glasgow. The Scottish club would have submitted an offer of 3 million euros to secure his services.


    Caen, 8th in Ligue 2, is keen on his striker but he would also be ready to negotiate and let his striker go in the event of a higher offer.

    Sounds like a lot of money for someone with a poor past record, this season with 16 in French league 2 is his best ever, 6 was his previous best ever in 17/18

    We want to see him play football, not watch him playing tennis, celebrating goals and cutting up tape in the dressing room.

    His goal return is rotten prior to this season. Even this season, 16 goals in 30 games in Ligue 2 is hardly mouth watering stuff.

    Maeda and GG were similar, outside of last year they hadn't scored a huge amount. If there's anything in this, we just have to trust that Ange is picking guys he thinks can do a job in the system, even if they're not all superstars individually.

    26 goals in 30 games in the Dutch 1st division is a wee bit better than 16 in 30 in the French second division though. Plus Giakoumakis is younger, so it's not like we are buying potential here, Mendy at 28 is pretty much as good as he is going to get. It's a hard pass from me.

    Giakoumakis was similar stat wise, one good season. Ange has earned the right to go for whoever he wants for me, I trust his judgement more than mines.

    Don’t think it detracts from the point that Ange has shown he knows what he’s doing in the transfer market so far.

    Always dodgy judging a player from stats alone, I’ve never seen the guy play so if Ange thinks he’s good enough and wants him, and he knows what he wants from him in the team and he provides whatever it is, * it, trust the guy.
