A good signing for us you think mate?

I’m bullish on him and not worried about the loan aspect. I’d rather we got someone we want on loan than someone permanently we’re not sure on.

Could try sign this guy permanently and would have anderson back too, if we can’t get this guy we’ll have Anderson back and will look for competition/upgrade for him then I reckon

you would hope that’s the case but we have really handled some of the recent windows in under really poorly.

I have my reservations that the club would be able to put something like that in place.

It would be a good scenario but as you say he could get another long term injury and we are back to square one.

If the reports are true regarding his 1.3 million wages that would mean he’s on £25k a week.

Theoretically......if he has that 3 million release clause......could we activate that in say January if we like him or would we have to wait until his loan ends?

We could activate it whenever we want but it’s obviously dependant on whether the player wants to sign or not. Is the release clause confirmed? I’ve seen it reported once or twice but it seems strange. Not sure I believe it.

Not sure if it is a genuine one, same as yourself I've seen it a few places. Seems too low for a supposed Barca top talent.

The lad himself is probably using this as an opportunity to sound us out rather than anything, too.

Instead of completely giving up hope at the club I assumes he supports and leaving Spain for Scotland.

I don’t think there’s any chance of keeping him. An enjoy him while we have him kind of deal. He’s a talented prospect.

That's the way I'm thinking if it now tbh. A Jason Denayer type. If he's really good for us, with the pedigree he has, he'll probably get in the Barca squad, or a move to a top league after this season.

Will likely be down to the player as much as anything. Can’t blame him if he’d rather try out a loan first, before deciding to permanently leave one of the best club set ups in the world for a city where it rains for three quarters of the year.

Encouraging that from their side it is being reported that Rodgers played a big role in persuading the player so he must like the look of him.

I haven’t watched Celtic this past season but as fullback (even platooning at RB), I say he earned a spot in the rotation at Barça but FFP & Cancelo means they decided to season the player more to assess his long term potential

FBs are always a tough position to fill with quality, especially at both ends of the pitch. So on the surface, could be a good move for your club and it’s a great audition for his continuity at Barca else to be trade fodder. For Celtic, it means a development player from another club but he is quality and I imagine he will love playing for Celtic - it is a bandaid however

I could see him languishing for 1-2 seasons away from Barca but the further you are away, the less likely of a return and Valle would like to thrive at the club. It is to say, there is a chance, but dependent on whether Laporta achieves the 1:1 shortly that Alex could see his loan extended if all parties are satisfied
