That's pretty much the thought I had while reading this thread. I'm not an expert in alcoholism by any means but someone that is drinking everyday has a problem. Habitual behaviour and addiction go hand in hand.

been hammerring the booze since i was about 14,now 28.caused me a lot of hassle in the past.mainly a binge drinker but would still consider myself an alcholic.been going to college the past month and doing well having the odd pint here and there, but had one too many on sunday there woke up on monday and went straight to the offsales for 2, 2 litres of strongbow ended up wasted all ov monday, missed college on tuesday as well because i was too hungover to go in:31:* fuming at myself.been to a few aa meetings this year, going to start them back highly recomended if your needing help with booze.

just realised at the start of the year how much drink can affect your mental health too had a major paranoid episode at the start of the year thinking mi6 were going to kill me set me up etc:56:yeah crazy but it was scary at the time.my doctor wasnt much help,so had to do a lot of research on my own but stopping drinking for a few months helped me a lot and not taking as much drugs.

It's great your admitting you have a problem. Doesn't sound to me like drink does anything positive for you mate. Time to stop?

I drink every night and also binge drink a couple (2-3 usually) nights a week and still wouldn't class myself as an alcoholic.

I don't particularly like sitting in the house by myself so I'll go out to the pub to see mates, so that's the reason I drink in the week. I also enjoy getting wrecked so I set aside a couple nights a week to do so. I do this on work nights usually once a week as well, but still go to work the next day happily and it doesn't affect anything negatively.

I can easily go without a drink if I've got something else on where I can't drink, I'm in no way addicted. If it wasn't for the social side I'd happily never drink.

Obviously a lot of people have drinking problems, friends and family have killed themselves with drink but it's wrong to say that anyone who drinks every day or binge drinks has a problem.

Already asked this but no one answered and I'm curious.

For people that drink every night, or even about 4 nights a week, do yous not think it would be more enjoyable if you drank only one night a week instead? I think I would feel like * if I drank 3-4 times a week, every week. Obviously there are weeks where theres going to be more on, and you're going to drink more, but this is more aimed at the people that will drink at home, or drink more or less for the sake of it several times a week. Is there not a point where drinking becomes less enjoyable then?

Being an Alcoholic isn't black and white, I work in a pub so know plenty of people who drink most days after work etc and I wouldn't say most of them as alkys. They just enjoy going for a few drinks cause they will get to see their mates, catch up etc. They may drink 4/5 nights a week, but I don't think they depend on it.

Also know plenty of people who are in drinking all day every day and they are def alcoholics. But each person is different.

No really, drinking is just enjoyable to me, and I find that drink only makes me feel * when I binge drink, having 2-3 cans a night doesn't really affect me other than obviously calories and just not being that good for you in regards to your heart, liver etc.

Thats not true.It may not be good for your liver, but supposedly, a couple of units a day is good for your heart, and it definitely helps you unwind a bit.

Also, if i ever have any kind of muscle injury, like neck or back, i find having a few drinks really helps. It relaxes the muscles which in turn eases the pain. This in turn can allow you to unwind and not be 'feeling' for the injury.

I get hammered about once a fortnight. Other than that I don't drink.. Weed is my vice :50:

I find that binge drinking gives me bad anxiety the next day (not the fear, just aggravates my anxiety disorder) so I tend to not drink so much.

Everyone is different I suppose. I think I feel * mentally more so than physically when Ive drank a fair bit. That's probably because I take playing football more seriously than I should though, if I play badly in a game of ball I can be in the horrors for a week or two and ill blame myself for drinking a few cans four days before :smiley-laughing002:

I don't really feel any desire at all to drink more than once a week though, and when I do drink if would be more likely to be somewhere between 5-10 cans/pints depending on why I'm drinking. 2/3 cans would do nothing for me, even if I was just sitting at home playin playstation or whatever, I'd still need to have at least 5/6 cans. After 2/3 I don't see the point in stopping.
