Celtic fans won't have been sad to see the back of £5million flop Albian Ajeti after a disastrous spell in Glasgow's east end.

But the Swiss international may have been left with some regret over his switch to Turkey after a brutal warning over his fitness from Gaziantep boss Marius Sumudica. Ajeti saw his Celtic nightmare come to an end in the summer having been brought to Parkhead on a four-year deal in 2020 under Neil Lennon but after failing to make his mark under the Irishman or Ange Postecoglou, he was sent out on loan to Sturm Graz last term



Brendan Rodgers didn't offer the 26-year-old a chance under a third boss at Celtic Park and his contract was ripped up - which allowed him to make his move to the Super Lig strugglers. His new club are rock bottom of the Turkish table and remained without a point as they slumped to a 2-0 defeat to Kayserispor - with big name recruit Ajeti failing to even make the bench as he awaits his first appearance for them


Reports in Turkey claimed that the boss had been unhappy with the levels of fitness shown by the frontman in training and had opted to leave him out entirely. Ajeti was used sparingly during his time on loan in Austria with his last start coming in April and was not part of pre-season training with the Hoops. .

Asked about the absence of Ajeti post-match, Sumudica declared: "Whoever wants to put his heart on the field must make sacrifices. Those who are not ready or don't want it can stay out. Because we don't have time."

 

I honestly can't tell you how happy it made me to get that parasitical * off of our payroll.

You sign a contract, you’re entitled to the money regardless of playing time.

I get that he was on a decent wage and wasn’t even making a squad but he signed the contract the club offered him, he’s entitled to it.

The striker has relaunched his career with FC Basel - and Fotomac report that the Swiss frontman report that he is being “considered” by the Istanbul club.

After leaving Parkhead, Ajeti previously spent an ill-fated spell in Turkey with Gazisehir.
