Was * last season under PLG. Has been brilliant since Smith took over i think he was in the Ferguhun camp and wanted PLG out.
Still to see if he can cope with a really good winger though. -
He is a proper wingback style fullback with strength and pace as well as a bit of skill. I think Naylor and Wilson's problem is that they are very light and look like they will break every time someone tackles them. Can see them brushing of players and pounding to the deadline. One thing though: if we are going to whinge about our fullbacks, can we at least name realistic replacements. By realistic I mean maybe 2 or 3 million cause I cant see us spending more than that on each fullback.
I quite like Caddis in the reserves but he is another midget and will get battered about just like Wilson, Naylor and Jackie before them and have endless injury problems because of it. I think in the modern game you more and more need 6ft+ players and our reserves seem to be full of munchkins. Rangers have had the same problem too. Players need to be real athletes at the top level not wee street lads who can kick a ball about. Those days are gone at the top level. I have noticed even traditionally shorter countries like Italy have tall well built players now. I heard WGS going on about this a few time although it seems a bot rich coming from him. -
hate to say but hutton looks a good player & aiden will have to get his finger out
