FYI Ajax's tickets for the match 21 July went on sale today to the general public. Signs are it should be easy enough to travel over and buy tickets here in Amsterdam - probably through to match day - I got tickets for VAK (Section) 118* - in the 1st ring near the pitch, right below/next to the official travelling support sections (VAK) Sections 416 & 417.

    * These sections have already been on sale to Ajax STH & Club card holders for +/-2 weeks - which suggests (as I predicted before) it's highly unlikley to sell out, therefore I'd be surprised if you cant come over on the Saturday & still get tickets OK

Follow this link to have a look at the stadium:-

    http://www.ajax.nl/Stadion/Stadionoverzicht-3D.htm

You can get tickets from any "TicketBox" shop - mostly "Primera" newsagents/cigarette shops.

Here's a list of those in the Amsterdam area. If it asks for a postcode type in, for example, 1012 (Amsterdam Centraal Station):-

    http://www.ticketbox.nl/web/show/id=134305?area=1012

    See you there? YNWA

Section 118 seems to be a good choice. Anymore Tims sitting there? I think I will get my ticket for this section as well, would it be ok to wear a Celtic shirt or will you not be allowed in (I know it is a friendly, but it seems Ajax is taking this quite seriously - they require for example that the Celtic fans bring along valid ID at the game)?

BTW I forgot to mention. Tickets are roughly half the usual price of a league match. I paid only 20 euro a ticket for really good seats!

O'Reillys: 2 or 300 yards away from Dam Square , on a side street behind the palace. Not exactly 100% "Irish" (but what is these days?), but decent grub, a "snug" you can smoke in ,and a couple of cracking wee barmaids last time I was in!

My & my 16 year old son will be. I plan to put on my bhoys Celtic shirt once we're in (it's too small for him - lol!) - I don't think they'll make a big deal about it, as Celtic have a very good reputation, but just to be on the safe side, Id wait.... I also wouldn't expect any hassle from Ajax fans either as our good Green "Paaarty" reputation precedes us (In fact, from what Ive read on Ajax websites, they're a wee bit in awe of us!)

ID is compulsory for all fans - both Ajax & Celtic fans - so that's nothing unusual. Whether they'll bother looking/checking ID is anybody's guess. It's extremely unlikely it'll be sold out, so even IF the stewards get a bit too PC, worst scenario is they'll give you a pass to other "Celtic end" seats.

Dont worry. It'll be fine. See you there!

It says on the Celtic website that Ajax have said that Celtic fans will need ID for this game. How strict do youse think they'll be with this? As the ticket I'm getting is in the name of someone elses season book.

BTW I paid 20 Euro a ticket for 1st ring seats, but I could have gotten tickets for 15 euro a shot. - Compared to a normal league match this is really a cheap as it gets. If it was a Champions league match you could multiply that by 3 or 4!

That's a difficult one.As I said earlier, ID is compulsory for all fans - both Ajax and Celtic- thats nothing unusual. Last time I went to Ajax was with my boys fitba club and they didn't even bother asking, 'though 4 adults + 26 teenage boys on youth club discount isnt likely to cause concern. An awful lot depends on how close to a sell-out it is. My guess is not very close.

My gut feeling is they wont be too strict but I'm afraid I cant give a 100% guarantee - it depends on the individual stewards. However, IF they do question you, tell them they're your Uncle's tickets and he's too ill to travel, so he gave them to you. I think they'd be OK about it.
