Last 10minutes glossed over an average perfmormance. Cervi did okay, Matthews looked solid enough. In midfield McCourt was his usual mercurial, at times , self, and Stokes and Hooper showed, eventually, why they are the number one pairing.

Big Maj though looks like he has aged 5 years since last season. O'Dea had little to do but is so one footed his clear outs were erratic. Twardzik had a good run out and Towell also, but definitely work in progress.

Wanyama has been a big disappointment for me. Today, as in the last two occasions I have seen him he is too complacent and his passing was really poor. Just gave the ball away too often for me. Good in the air, but his tackling was a lot poorer than we have been led to believe. His dive in the second half was also embarrassing. Cant see him threatening to get a position in the side based on this performance.

The game made a mockery of the fact we have a strong second squad. This was an Eire select, which isnt a strong league. Guys that wont have played together before, and we made hard work of it. Neil will have learned a lot today. Learned that there are a few guys he can trust. And some that he cant.

I was impressed with Dominic Cervi today. Whatever he had to do, he did it well and depending on how he does this Wednesday against Swansea (if he starts), he may end up starting in the Aberdeen game next weekend too (unless we buy a new, experienced keeper to take the no.1 spot).

Adam Matthews was quieter than usual, but I don't think he did anything wrong either.

Murphy had a good game. Im more than prepared to give him game time this season. Would prefer him to Samaras at this moment aswell. Hopefully this will be his year.

Agree with both posts above. Even though it was an Irish select, Murphy had a lot more movement and used the ball a lot better than Sammy does. And Cervi had a solid game. One nightmare moment, but I would put that down to a stupid back pass from Dan.

Murphy flatters to deceive. Despite having a good game today he is not good enough for Celtic I gave him a chance last season to change my opinion of him and he blew it.
On the game overall I thought there were some good performances, Stokes the pick of the bunch.

Hopefully Cevi plays against Swansea. Along with ODea again, I think ODea was solid aswell today.

Stokes and Matthews were the best players on the pitch today imo

stokes was my motm today and hooper looked like he might be playing his way back into form at the end of the match. Towell and Wanyama both looked decent in central midfield together although both of them seem to always want to play the simplest ball and never make a pass through the air which is fine most of the time but leaves us without any cutting edge when someone makes a run in behind the defense. Both of them will have to add that type of pass to their repitoire if they want to make it here. I thought Twarzdik looked decent at left back but you could tell he was more comfortable coming up the field to attack and if we really see him as a left back he needs to play their more often for the u19s because hes doesnt seem to have the greatest positional awareness in that position right now.

Wanyama is certainly no better than kayal, ki, ledley, brown or even towell.
Got to wonder why he was signed.

Thought Wanyama played well in the defensive midfield role.

Wanyama looked good in the air, but his passing was woeful. Gave it away too cheaply, too often. Also not as strong in the tackle as would have been expected and looked very one paced. His dive in the second half was a joke.

Doesnt look like he is going to threaten for a spot anywhere in the side given the last couple of performances.

Got nothing against the lad but just cant see him getting many games.
I really don't think we needed another midfielder.
