Adam Virgo from Brighton (merged threads)

I have ultimate faith in GS and if he thinks these guys are good, then lets all give them a chance

 

just got a text off one of my mates that plays for Rotherham (used to play for Forest last season) so he's played against this Virgo lad a few times. says he's quality and can play anywhere however he wasnae sure he was worth 1.5mil. I think we only had to pay that coz brighton didn't want to sell him. got faith in him if he comes.

 

If you guys don't want Virgs then we'll happily take him back. The only reason you were able to sign him is that we are totally Skint and need the money received for him to survive another season. That and the fact that Strachan and McGhee are great friends. Strachan has seen Virgo a number of times and clearly likes what he's seen.

If we were in our long awaited new stadium with something that resembles cash-flow we'd never have sold him.

He's not a great distributor of the ball but will run his nuts off for 90 minutes, never gives up-even in a game that is seemingly out of reach (his 100% attitude helped us win a playoff semi-final that we all thought had escaped us. He then scored in the final seconds and scored one of the penalties in the shootout). As somebody else has said: he has a great free kick in him but not every time (not even the likes of Beckham manages a great free kick every time). He isn't a world beater but he has the potential to be a very useful player for you and at 1.5 million, he's a bargain!

 

I'll give anyone who wants to play for Celtic a chance. According to McGhee, he has the right attitude. He's at a good age, versatile and has a good free kick. Very well recommended by Brighton fans, was wanted by Everton and Bolton...come on ppl!! What more can I say? He certainly deserves a chance!!!

 

Sounds like a decent player in an area we need, 1.5 million seems a wee bit much tho i think. As long as theres some money left for nakamura and maybe another defender then im happy.

also, I dont know why everyone is so sad about this signing. You cant know much about football if you will turn your nose up at a championship player. I didnt have confidence in Mo only because his old clubs fans were laughing at us. But look how hes doing. Brighton fans worship this guy so he deserves more than just a chance. Welcome him. mon the hoops !

you are lucky to have him, he's an absolute legend, and every brighton fan is sad to see him go. Hes an excellent player, and puts in 110% where ever he plays, even when its totally out of his natural position, he's solid at the back and has proven that he can score goals and play well upfront. Think he'll be mainly at the back for you guys. And as someone said earlier, yea he played for the Scotland Future Squad, qualified under one of his grandparents. He's a true brighton legend, and i hope that he does well for you guys. Looking forward to seeing him prove the doubters wrong. Good luck next season

I cant believe all the negativity surrounding this guy, what the * do we want then?? We moan coz we've no defenders and the ones that we have got are either pish or old so we sign a young, promising, and by all accounts, good defender and we say its *. Come on bhoys, why get on his back before he's even signed a deal. * sake.

 

I presume the Scotland Future game(s) weren't shown on TV up your way then coz he did play in them. I as all Brighton fans will, wish him well and am glad that he's signed for you. He's one of those players that you couldn't stand seeing playing against you. Despite only playing a few seasons for us he will go down as an alltime favourite with most fans.

I know most of you are thinking "Who the * is he?". Ok, so what if he isnt as well known as Beckham, no one is!

He is a very decent defender, who can play almost anywhere, as we found out last season. If you're looking for a brave and determined player, then you've found the right man. He was THE man for us last season, and we would have struggled without him. £1.5 Million is a fair deal if you ask me. Ok, so its £1.5 million, but there isnt any sell on clause, or any other fees (of which im aware of).

The best player to come out of our youth team for a while, and will be missed down on the South coast!

Oh, and to that idiotic person who said "he hasnt played for scotland blah blah", does that really determine whether he is a good player?...NO! It is well known players outside of any top division will rarely get picked for their country (unless its countires like andorra or whatever). He impressed for the Scotland 'B' side i think it was, and i wont be surprised if you see him playing for Scotland within 2 years.

Quality player, not the best known, but quality none the less.

 

hope so although 1.5m is alot of muney 2 celtic. The gd hing is hes like 4 players in one hes can play anywhere....probs even goalie
