Ah * just in after being on the lash and this is absolutely devastating. The horrors have already kicked in.

 

I hope you realise its far from over. Celtic are set to sell their best players over the next two transfer windows and replace them with rubbish. Watch.

 

It is a bit low but given he is in the last year of his contract I can see it. I will be sad to see Matthews leave. He was a good player for us and very consistent. We got him on a free and sold him for 2m. He gave us very good service during his time at the club. Plus we have already brought in his replacement so its not like we are scrambling by selling him. So I can understand the move on both sides.

 

I will miss Matthews, great servant to the club and I hope it's more of a case of him wanting a new challenge as opposed to being pushed out the door.
Would have hoped for more than 2m but hopefully we have a sell on clause.
I reckon the signing of Janko was in anticipation of Matthews leaving rather than selling him because we got Janko. Must have been on the cards for a while!

 

It's a bold decision but Matthews has earned a move so fair play to him.
He's got the pace to do well in the Premiership, and we get the chance to shake things up a bit. Some money added to the transfer kitty as well.

 

We weren't keen on selling, but the player wanted a new challenge according to the Daily Mail.

So that's the end of speculations about Ronny not rating him, the club selling against Ronnys wishes, etc, etc, ad absurdum.

 

Those are silly ways of thinking anyway tbh. There's nothing that surprising about the move at all. As others have said, we made complete profit on Matthews, he gets a move to a big league, after having given us 4 good years of effort. New youngster to bed in with Janko and repeat the process 4 years down the line (hopefully turning even more profit next time. Can't complain at the the way we do our business, not messing around and getting one in as one leaves.

 

Mathews cracking wee player. Have his hamstrings recovered?
