Adam Matthews

He's a good player from what I've heard and seen, but we'll still need to see how well he cuts it up here. It's a much more physical game up here than down in the Championship and the pitches are a lot worse up here too (Motherwell, ICT).

 

He seemed average and was the fault for 2 goals

 

he looked good when he came on , set up a good chance as soon as he came on . he looks good going forward but was caught out for millers goal . hes still young i hope and think he will turn out good

First of all the boy is only 19, still has alot to learn. He has hardly kicked a ball all season, so a being a bit rusty is expected. The first goal he was on the pitch about a min. Don't judge him on only 20-25 mins of action. That would be like someone watching Izzaguire in the 3-2 game vs Inverness game and automatically thinking he is pish. The 2nd goal, why he is marking Berra is crazy, would be like Ashley Cole trying to mark Peter Crouch.

 

Matthews has barely played and was thrown into an International friendly, lets judge him on what he does in the hoops. He's attracted interest from a lot of big clubs, he could go on to be great for us.

 

True, but I remember gareth bale having a torid time early on in his career at spurs and look how that turned out.

Lets see how he does in our team before we pass judgement....hes still very young...

 

Hinkel's definitely off but would be daft to get rid of Cha as well before we've seen how well Matthews settles/adjusts.

Not to mention Cha's probably one of the lowest paid players in the 1st team, can cover RB and RM and has helped Ki settle.

Would rather keep him for another season then if Matthews is as good as we all hope then let Cha at the end of his contract.

Adam Matthews will become a great player for celtic. remember this is the youngster who Man Utd were seriously linked to for £5m minimum just 18months ago. His career has stagnated at Cardiff due to a eejit manager taking out his frustrations on a youngster in an unacceptable way. Now he is out from under that man i highly expect to see him become an integral part of the celtic team, great great potential. Also dont judge him for the Wales game, we are Wales, we make Bale and Ramsey look like League 2 players

 

Which game were you watching mate? He played absolutely atrocious that game and im worried we've bought another squad player like murphy. I'm not gna rip into him too much tho cos it was a friendly and he hasn't played a game in a celtic top yet but Im justs aying im pretty worried after the performance I watched yesterday. He seems like the inda full back whos really good going forward but is flawed defensively. Only time will tell tho.

I think last night showed that he is a better winger than right back.

If we had 3 top class centre halfs he'd be perfect for right wing back and Izaguirre likewise. We wouldn't play 3 centre halfs though because of our strong midfield.

I'd still have him behind Wilson for the first team, but them two should be battling for that position.

 

Looks very lively going forward. Obviously got a fair bit of learning to do, but looks promising.
