That's correct and yeah he was amazing

 

Matthews is a quality player. If he can stay fit he will force his way into the team whether it be right back/left back or right mid.

 

Matthews is the best right back we've had in my life time and he is only 21 . Also Lustig is brilliant as well. We are extremely luck in this position.

 

I rate Jackie McNamara and Didier Agathe higher but at 21 to be rubbing shoulders with them two is unbelievable.

 

That was a specific game though, he's too one footed to play at left back, but against Barca it helped when dealing with their players cutting in from the right.

Wouldn't work as well, when needing to attack.

 

It has never been a problem position really with Mark Wilson and Hinkel there as well.

We do alright for Right Backs. I didn't mind Joe Doumbe and Paul Telfer as well actually!

 

And Cha Du-Ri.

 

I agree it wouldn't work as well for instance domestically as we are constantly attacking in games and he'd be wrong footed regularly. In games similar to Barcelona though I think he's ideal for LB.

 

Pretty much played right mid vs Arbroath away, was outstanding, just been unlucky because we've realised Lustig is good, but I prefer Matthews to Lustig.

 

I love big Lustig, but in the SPL Matthews should play. He helps the winger (Forrest) as he is able to get up with him and overlap, can get behind the defence, something which Lustig isn't great at because he isn't as fast.

 

Shame we have two terrific right back's as Darnell Fisher is someone who has terrific potential. If we get a good offer for either of them I wouldn't mind selling up as I think Fisher can reach their level.

 

I think fisher has big potential to be a top player for us..

I personally would send him out on loan for a season as we are pretty solid with lustig and Matthews and in emergency ambrose,would do him good...

It was great to see Matthews back in the starting lineup against Liverpool this weekend. I thought he looked very sharp as well. Solid defending and some good forays forward with the ball. I guess we have plenty of games over the course of the season where both Matthews and Lustig will get plenty of games but it is a bit strange that at the moment our best 2 defenders are right backs.
Thankfully both can play in other positions because for me if we were at full strength and playing a tough game I would want both in the lineup.

 

I take back what I said, play him at right midfield.

Looks excellent there.
