yeah really poor game yesterday. dont really need to say much more

 

Its infuriating, he never over laps and never takes players on and goes past them. We need to break teams down who are happy to sit in against us and he doesnt do it, needs locked in a room with videos of Alves and Maicon playing on repeat.

Izaguirre on the opposite side never had a great game, but he put 4 or 5 crosses in and went past players maybe 10/12 times. Matthews never went past a single player or put a cross in, never got anywhere near the oppositions corner flag.

 

I've felt this has been the case for a longtime.He has great pace so should be getting down the line as much as possible and seems to lack confidence when passing the ball therefore his whole game has been very negative.He still has great recovery and rarely lets anyone go by him but Lustig at the moment is number one in that position.

 

I know.

He used to be excellent when bombing down, overlapping and supporting the wide midfielder.

 

His lack of a left foot worries me, or lack of confidence in using it for simple 5-10 yard passes. Comes inside all the time and its predictable.

It was his predictable square pass that led to the goal, when you have to run around to play the ball with your stronger foot, not only do you take longer to pass the ball meaning a player can step in and take it from you it also shows the opposition exactly what you are doing with the ball meaning passes can be intercepted.

I really like matthews but he needs to be more dynamic going forward.

 

was pish yesterday, but ffs....1 really * game does not deserve total rejection. First game back really in about 3-4 weeks. He sold us out for that first goal. Pish in the first half, but for me tried to do redeem himself in the second.
Every one in midfield, attack, defense, was passing back. Whole team lacked creativity, not just Matthews.

 

Young players make mistakes . He will get better as he matures with his game dam fine a rough diamond . Only 20 some people forget this.

Would use Rafael at Man Utd as the perfect example he is now 22 and has matured to being close to a world class right back now .

 

I think Mathews is a much better player than Lustig. Both with and without the ball. Just happens to be Lustig has hit a run of form just now.

 

He looked genuinely gutted after the game and has apologized to the Celtic support, as well as admitting to playing poorly. I hope he's back to his best shortly, I rate him highly.

 

I prefer Lustig now. I'd sell Matthews if a decent bid came in.

Would be stupid to sell him now . Give him a year or two and we would double the the type of fee we would get if we sold him now.

 

haha for * sake that's the definition of a fickle fan right there. "I prefer Lustig now so lets sell Matthews". What ever happened to having competition for places? For years we have bemoaned a lack of quality at full back - we now have 2 very competent RB's and you want to sell one

 

He's just come back from injury and played a * game, he's still a better player than Lustig and he's only 20 years old !!! This lad will make it one of the furthest out of this current crop of players imo! He's got a big future ahead of him.

 

Hope hes watching Lustig the night, showing how to get forward and pin teams back.

 

Both Lustig and Matthews are fantastic players.

I would possibly say Lustig is a more reliable and experienced.

 

RB is a very very strong position for us with Lustig and Matthews. Two class players.

 

Thought he did fine when he came on! Think he's a great young talent and would generally pick him over Lustig but there's no doubt that Lustig's a great player! particularly going forward
