I’m not saying you have to turn your brain off, I’m saying what you are seeing and processing with your brain IMO will be proven wrong. He’s proven people wrong all his career.

What I see (so you understand where I’m coming from) is a player who can hold the ball long enough to get his teammates up the pitch. It’s one thing to press all day, it’s another thing to play your way out from the top of our box, when we force a turnover, and into the final third without giving the ball away. This was one area in which I think Mooy can improve in Europe.

I don't get how Mooy is seen as being not good enough for Europe. I'd think that the World Cup is a decent marker of how he'd do up against elite players, and he was * brilliant in that.

The ‘lack of speed’ was only an issue when he wasn’t match fit as he looked ponderous and heavy legged.

There has been no ‘lack of speed’ apparent for weeks if not months now.

For me a big part of that is the opposition. His lack of pace isn't shown up domestically. What is required of his role in our system domestically is so different from Europe, where teams break at lightening speed and we need our whole midfield to run up and down the park constantly, basically full pelt. It's a lot to ask, and I'm still not convinced Mooy is up to it. I'd be delighted to be proven wrong. But if we go into next year's CL campaign with him one of our first choice 8s I'll be disappointed.

In terms of him at the World Cup, the system Australia played was totally different and his role within it too. He wasn't expected to get up and attack and then track back constantly. Also, the games they played weren't at a frenetic pace like ours are in Europe. It suited Mooy.

He looked slow domestically to begin with as he was clearly not anywhere close to being up to speed.

I personally not only would have no fear with him going into Europe I’m actually buzzing to see him there.

Mooy will be fine for Europe,I honestly think we'd have fared a lot better had he been fit.

You are spot on, the role he played at the WC was totally different to the role he is now playing for us. At the WC, he just sat in front of the center halfs and rarely crossed the half way line. As for Europe, cant see him starting, just need more pace/mobility.

Ange Postecoglou has addressed the reason for Aaron Mooy's omission from the Celtic squad for the Aberdeen game.

The Australia international - as well as David Turnbull - was not included in the Hoops contingent for the Saturday afternoon visit of the Dons to Parkhead.

Postecoglou told BBC Sportsound: "Turnbull picked up an injury in the last game so he'll miss today and Aaron pulled up a bit sore yesterday but with those two [Reo Hatate and Matt O'Riley] really fresh it made sense for us to being them in."

Mooy has been a virtual ever-present since joining Celtic during the summer. After an initial period characterised by sub appearances as he built up his match fitness, the 32-year-old forced his way into the starting reckoning with a series of impressive displays.

I really wish we'd done a song for him based on the classic Robin Hood theme rather than Daddy Cool.
