Really enjoyed that..
The key thing is fan engagement, I've banging on about that in various threads since 2010 and nothing changes..
Interesting to hear how they perceive Nicholson, invisible in all aspects of his role it seems..
Some good ideas about how the SLOs should work etc..
The viewing and sanctioning banners and tifos by the club.. it's difficult to see how that's overcome, if they a strict non political viewpoint. It now means any display is sanctioned by the club as they've asked to see them before display.. -

PL shouldn’t be near that chairman spot but he only runs it exactly how Desmond wants it run.
As said in other threads, we be need modernised in every department and disband the old boys club mentality. It’s such an easy fix but also the GB don’t help themselves either and it just makes it easier for the club to crack down on them.Ryanm1984 likes this. -
They make some good and valid points but they also fail to admit any of their own wrong doings and the bit about pyro is laughable it's not the celtic board setting the rules for that we're not fining ourselves

I think there is a level of entitlement with them, at the minute. 'Oh we're the only ones that sing and jump around so we can do what we want'. The board need to take a portion of the blame with the breakdown in the relationship because we need the club and the ultras to be singing from the same hymn sheet, really. It sounds harsh but I'd expect the club to be the grown ups at the dinner table. The ultras clearly act like children, try and break the rules. That's what they do, though. They're meant to live on the edge. It's the point in them. You don't cut them out though and you don't withdraw the love, when they misbehave, so to speak. You lay down markers but you still need to talk to them and engage with them and try and get them back on the right track.
Need them both to come together in the off season and sort out the issues. All for the GB being on the edge but the * banners praising the resistance, a day after Hamas slaughtered innocent women and children was abhorrent and the multiple flares issue is becoming a massive problem.greengrocer likes this. -

As others, make some very good points in regards to fan engagement, lack of communications and even the use of the SLO at times.
But they come across as if they've done no wrong.
First ten minutes was close to turning it off.
"We will not budge on politics" and then demand the club are open to a two way communication and discussion. Think the club have played reasonably fair to them over the 20 years, albeit if there are justifications on both sides for being upset at the other.
Annoyingly, they'll keep going on about the origins of the club and demand the club aide with their views, when that's 137 years ago now and as much as the vast majority of us do still agree with them, football has changed and the governing bodies have changed.
The sooner they realise the no politics and no pyros stuff is not actually just the clubs view but the club trying not to get in to bother with the governing bodies, the sooner they can all hopefully have more productive working relations.
But, even from the sound of the podcast, they seem to admit that the clubs often given them a lot of leeway, but it's the GB themselves that continue to push the limits.
Having their firm stance on politics and refusing to budge, they seem to forget that the club has the upper hand/power in how that goes. Rightly or wrongly.

Its a odd notion to me that someone in the green brigade feels more deserving of a chief execs time than any other of our 53000 season ticket holders. They seem to have a degree of self importance far beyond just being a wee group of fans there to cheer their team on.
Most of their complaints dont seem valid to me. As others have said, pyro legislation isnt a celtic board issue. Previous health and safety concerns are only a board issue so much as the board have a fidutiary duty to ensure bad behaviour doesnt impact the health and safety of others. Policing concerns are police issues not a celtic board issue.
The only actual subject within the remit of the board is the allowing or not allowing the green brigade to promote their politics in the stadium. And even then they dont really seem to get that much grief from the board most of the time. Most of the grief in that regard has come from UEFA who have their own rules that the club have to agree to and out with the boards controlPeej likes this. -

A very interesting listen to hear their version of events, now the club need to respond with their version, what is abundantly clear is the board must engage with the fans as they are the lifeblood of the club, typical arrogance from the board,Lawell and co, wise up and engage with the supporters.

Had a wee listen today..interesting stuff
Not brave enough to share their names, they tell the interviewers what they can ask about and when, and when topics can be brought into the conversation.
They talk constantly about us and them.
Admit they can't or wont reign in their own group with things like pyro.
Only engaged with existing fans forums to steer broader topics back to GB.
I do agree however the board are aloof and don't engage, our AGM's for example are a stage managed joke.
Really importantly, I didn't hear anything at all about footballing or CFC business matters
such lack of sporting transparency, questionable ambition, poor transfer windows, European success on the pitch, internal nepotism, compensation for victims, etc etc - stuff the majority of fans are interested and care about.
On the self appointed 'civil rights' based legal decisions that led to the so called kettling - the 7 year old they were so worried about could have gone to the game, but the GB decided not.
The police clearly communicated what would happen that day (rightly or wrongly) and vast, vast majority of fans complied and went to the game as normal.
Also didn't touch on the near ban on fans for European games and multiple fines as a result of their repeated actions.
Overall, they come across as self appointed, self entitled, 'rebels' that claim to represent the majority and are somehow critical to the clubs success.
They don't and are not.Sween likes this. -

Board don't want to do anything that will impact on their bonuses.
The only time in the last decade that they have done anything was when they were worrying about season ticket sales and even then it last under a year before Lawwell was back and his stooge was Chief exec.
Rearranging the deck chairs on the titanic is out idea of modernization.
Ridiculous in this day and age that a club our size doesn't have a director of football or equivalent. The fact that Rodgers regularly talks of meetings with Desmond and completely bypasses Nicholson/Lawwell show his thoughts on those running the club tooPeej and CookieMonster like this. -

Think it was mentioned that McKay forgot these sell-on fees but I don't know of he did it because he thought he was smarter or because his predecessor was too lazy to tell him these things. And I have to say, I wouldn't be surprised if Lawwell deliberately withheld information to sabotage McKey to make himself took better. I just don't trust that guy :giggle1: -
