:56: No it was the governments fault who bailed out several banks costing hundreds of Billions when it didn't need to, would of cost a lot less to let the banks go bust and pay out money to the account holders.

As for the rest have you actually read the manifesto by Nicola Sturgeon? Cause Labour and the Tories never lied eh
The fact Labour have been in charge up here for so long yet not actually addressed any of the real problems, they just stick their heads in the sand.

Simple fact is if people want the austerity to stop there needs to be an increase in tax.

It wasn't 100's of billions, bolded part, Seriously it would not have been cheaper to do it that way at all.

Yes, I agree with some of her policies. I don't agree with independence. My eyes are open and I can see that Sturgeon, just like Salmond, only wants power. That is the same as every other politician though, across all the parties. PS. SNP weren't called the 'Tartan Tories' for nothing and Nationalism is half way on the road to facism. Its SNP voters who need to open their eyes. I dont usually vote for a number of reasons, but will be this election for tactical reasons.

    LOL, get a grip.

Well not to bailout but on the back of it with all borrowing that has went on between banks has fallen on the government and essentially the tax payers, amount 100's of billions. Money that the banks will never pay back either. Overall it would of been cheaper and less harmful long term to the economy.

While I have no time for her I don't think she is a "wee * ned" either , although maybe that would maybe suit the good people of Paisley and South Ren best ... :86:
As I said, I have no problem that she supports a different football team so that does not bother me.

Aye Scottish bank/s that was under UK control, so your point is , well pointless.
As for your opinion on Sturgeon/Salmond and the SNP you appear to be a lost vote obviously, thankfully its only one. I think we will survive that.

I am voting this time, but tactically to try and stop the SNP. Usually I dont vote. I don't have much trust in society and in other people who are only vying for positions of power.

Parties change their policies just to try and win votes, not because they actually believe in them. To be fair to the SNP, they don't do that, it just happens that I don't agree with them.

For instance, take immigration. The main parties have changed their policies on this, solely to win votes, not because its actually in their agenda. It's all about winning power.

Parties should put forward what they believe in, regardless of current public opinion, and the public should democratically vote in the manifesto that they want. Then everyone should be happy, the public have decided and the most popular manifesto wins and the people get what they want. This changing of policies just to pander to the public isnt what its about. It just shows all they want is power, rather than actually showcasing an agenda for the people to decide upon. All the parties will eventually just become the same in the end and veer from left to right depending on public opinion.

Those comments were a couple of years ago. This is the problem with social media. An immature teenager can post a lot of crap and it stays with them forever. She has since learnt the error of her ways in that regard....she wont be the first nor the last to make that kind of mistake.

Imo she comes across as a clever girl who just might develop into a good politician. She's coming into this at a time where there are good role models and I think she will learn from them. I for one would give her a chance.

Under UK control? They controlled themselves. It was Fred Goodwin - a Scot. Not that that matters. The debt would have been taken on by Scotland if we were an independent nation and we would have had to be bailed out by another country and been another burden to Europe like Iceland or Greece. UK gov only took control after they went under and it was Brown who stopped us from entering an early 1900s like depression again, whether people like him or not, you cant take that away from him. It happened.

Fair enough she supports a different team, but dont call a large group of people 'scum'. Thats ned-like behaviour if you ask me.

The government is in the process of selling back the stakes it holds in the various banks and will make a healthy profit for the tax payer. In short every penny will be returned.

Will it? I'm out of touch with everything that is going on just now but aren't the banks still aloud to do their investments that got us in this trouble in the 1st place? It will be a long process but it was still a lot money * down the drain.

Was still * and shouldnt have happened. Gov couldnt really do much about it, the banking compliance laws in this country were pretty standard with the rest of the world at the time. Thought they handled the aftermath pretty well though.

I didn't realise Mhairi Black was so young. I knew she was younger than most politicians but 20 and still at uni, jeez!
She seems to know her stuff. I just can't warm to her.

If you think brown saved the banking system you have no idea , that * cretin caused a lot of the mismanagement due to him not having a * clue about governance in banking and his "light touch" approach while he was chancellor. * darling was a better chancellor and he was a bit of a weird one but compared to brown he was superb :smiley-laughing002:

    Have a read.

'he was the first western leader to grasp that a cataclysmic meltdown of the world’s financial system could be prevented only by a massive recapitalisation of the banks'

Aye I know she is young Jeannie and that's the problem , she is too young imo and has no experience. She has also been fast tracked and that is unfair on far more deserving SNP councillors who have gained experience. As I said before as well "allegedly" she is developing a bit of an ego. The SNP get praised, by some, for not having career politicians (I know who really believes that) but its worth trying to maintain that kind of belief.

I will read that, if you promise to read all of the banking amendments/codes and various other pieces of legislation "the iron chancellor brown" introduced, that can be traced to the banking collapse ?
As I said, if you want to champion brown as the saviour fair enough but I will not waste any more of my time as you are most certainly a lost cause.

ps it is a good headline first world leader to grasp ... ffs, shameless * :52: his chancellor told him who happened to be darling. labour shafting each other over time and time again :smiley-laughing002:

Brown was not at fault for the banking collapse. It was the banks themselves. Everyone knows this.

I'm not a lost cause. You're not going to change my ideas and I'm not going to change yours. This is a democracy, let people vote what they want.

I'm just discussing things with you. I am no proprietor of any party. I can bash anyone and everyone as much as I like. You shouldn't see politics discussions as a way of persuading people into your way of thinking. Another thing that is wrong with this country and another thing that admittedly the SNP are guilty of. Hence youre 'lost vote' statement. You shouldn't be trying to gain my vote in the first place. Let people read the manifestos and vote what they want.
