Just wanted to thank you all again for contributing so much to these rankings. Sorry I didn't really get to wrap this all up last night, but I was pretty knackered by the tine I finished doing the posts and kinda needed to crash as had an early start this morning. Anyhow, doing the loose ends stuff now, lol...

A special mention to Cider, who clocked in the first ever full 100 rankings, and similiar shout outs to Tim and Forest, who both contributed Top 60-70's, but there were a LOT of people that went above and beyond, with top 20's, 30's and 40's also. Thank you all. They are always very helpful.

In a minute I will post everyone's Top 10's - just the Top 10's because it could get legit insane beyond that, lol.

Before I do, couple of little fun facts.
    • This rankdown has had the most nominees and also the most amount fo films that recieved rankings ever.
    • 14 people had The Godfather in their Top 10 - 13 of which were in their Top 5!
    • Clint Eastwood featured in the most (7) films, narrowly edging out Dustin Hoffman (6).
    • 1976 was the most popular year (15)
    By year:
    • 70 - 4
    • 71 - 11
    • 72 - 6
    • 73 - 9
    • 74 - 10
    • 75 - 8
    • 76 - 15
    • 77 - 11
    • 78 - 12
    • 79 - 14
7 Clint Eastwood: Dirty Harry, Kelly's Heroes, Escape From Alcatraz, High Plains Drifter, Every Which Way But Loose, Outlaw Josie Wales & Magnum Force
6 Dustin Hoffman: Marathon Man, Straw Dogs, Kramer v Kramer, Little Big Man, All the President's Men & Papillion

    Maybe... but then again...
    • Patton won Best Picture Oscar
    • Caberet won 8 Oscars (not that the Oscars are the be all and end all, but especially during that post Production Code and pre-Harvey Weinstein era there were a pretty decent barometer)
    • included Superman to show how times have changed compared with the 2010's where so much is MCU this or DC that etc but back then the big superhero movie of the decade never got close to cracking the 100
    • Quite a few Sam Peckinpah movies did make the cut (such as Cross of Iron & Straw Dogs), but The Getaway never got close, which was a surprise.
    • Diamonds Are Forever was the only Bond movie that made the grade, and that the next best was The Spy Who Loved me which again, nowhere near making the cut
    • Directors such as Stanley Kubrick) and Ingmar Bergman made a lot of good movies, but only Kubrick's Clockwork Orange made the cut
    • Jack Nicholson in Five Easy Pieces is great (same as in Last Detail), Jane Fonda was great in Klute and Coming Home, always liked the China Syndrome and it's foreshadowing, while Last Picture Show & Marlon Brando's Last Tango in Paris stacked up plenty of controversy, and I could've added more but just wanted to show a bit of a cross-section to underline how good and the strength of the list of the 100 that made it was.
It wasn't meant as a rebuke to everyone to say, why didnt these get voted, it was more about this list is so stacked, look at those that never got close to making the cut, sorry if that came across the wrong way, but that was how I intended it, definitely not as a criticism. :)

Taz excellent work and thanks for the hard work put in :50:. Was pointed out to me years ago maybe the 70s was THE DECADE not the sixties. Just look at the genres of music from jan 1 1970 to end of December 1979, many still very influential even now.

Somehow I think there are more than a few other more likely out there, but 'even to be nominated in an honour', haha!

Brando declined his for Godfather also, in protest of the treatment of Native Americans.
