    Newcastle FFS :56:

We don't get large attendances at home games because we're playing dross. We're still the go to Club for Testimonial matches when folk when thousands to travel down South for pointless games because we take a bigger travelling support than anyone else.

We're definitely top 10, where in that 10 is dependant on how you are gauging things; purchased with artificial wealth or history and fan base. On the last point we are a bigger Club than Man City, without a shadow of a doubt.

We're a bigger club than Arsenal and should be 3rd in my opinion. None of the rest are bigger than us..

The likes of Leeds should always be before the joke Newcastle's of this world..

Thing is, the thread is titled "10 biggest football clubs from Britain right now?", so surely the likes of City have to feature?

If it were "10 biggest British football clubs of the past 50 years" then the results may be different.

Except it isn't, of course. There's no way we are a bigger club than City or Chelsea right now.

So because an unbelievably rich Saudi family has invested over the last what, 8-10 year's (if that), they should then be fast tracked to one of the biggest club's in Britain? Not for me..

This joke club couldn't sell out against Bayern last year when they needed something to qualify. It's never full. Despite having top player's and the game's they play. Quite sad really..

No. You have added some no mark's at number 9..

Hey, I'm not saying that I think it's a good thing, it is sad, but it's true.

When you're talking about a club with a shitload of money, plenty of big name players, and who have won the richest and most watched league in the world you can't dismiss them, simple as that.

Historically City aren't a really big club, but right now? They are.

Right now they're a really rich club, the crowd at the last Champions League match points towards them not being a 'big club' though.

I see where your coming from but I just can't buy that..

A side that not to long ago, were in league 1....then taken over to be a superpower and yet still can't fill a stadium, despite dining at the top table with Aguero instead of feed the goat. Nah, not for me. For the money they've spent, they've been an absolute embarrassment to England in Europe as well..

I know money talks but United, Liverpool and yes us and half of that list easy, are quite rightfully much bigger club's than City..

Unfortunately I doubt many outside of Scotland who aren't supporters of Celtic will give a *. City are a club with shitloads of money, plenty of marquee names, they compete in the richest and most popular league on the planet, and they are Champions League regulars now.

Football has changed over the past ten or fifteen years, and clubs like ours simply don't make the cut anymore.

Everything they've done (not much considering) is down to absolutely ridiculous money being thrown at a tin pot club..

People outside of us can say what they want. English Pundits/Media/Football fan's are delusional at best. Ask any ex City player/fan. If City were a top 6 even British club before the Sheiks came in, and they'd have laughed harder than anyone outside the football club..

The same way as people can say that almost everything we've done as far as cups and league titles is down to us being absolutely streets ahead of everyone we compete with domestically outwith the old Rangers.

There are different ways to frame most things depending on your own viewpoint, isn't there?

I agree, which is why my opinion would be different if the title of the thread wasn't "10 biggest clubs in Britain right now", because that would be taking history into the equation.

The Sheiks are here now though, the money is being spent now, the titles are being won now and the Champions League football is being played now.

Not really. We've built our foundation on to being the biggest and best run club in the country. It wasn't handed to us. We've earned it..

You really need to put the criteria in the OP for these threads.

Depends on how you look at it. In terms of history, fanbase, trophies etc probably something like
    1 Man United
    2 Liverpool
    3 Celtic
    4 Arsenal
    5 Rangers
    6 Leeds
    7 Forest
    8 Chelsea
    9 Villa
    10 Spurs
Preston I reckon have an argument to be in the bottom of there somewhere.
In terms of current attractiveness to players the top 6 is probably United, Chelsea, City, Arsenal, Liverpool and Spurs and we'd probably be lucky to be in the top 25.

Probably about 5 English clubs I would say have a bigger 'casual' fan base than us from supporters on China and the Asian countries in general etc. Crazy how it can all change in a period of ten years or so.

We would be top 3 behind Liverpool and man u , and old huns just behind us few years ago, obviously if it wasn't for teams like man city signing likes of Aguero etc
