Leigh Griffiths, player of the year

40 goals in a season secures Griffiths a place in Celtic history

When Leigh Griffiths signed for Celtic, there were those who doubted him, there were those who didn't want him at the club due to past misdemeanours. Some doubted his ability, he never did.

On the 20th August 1990, Griffiths was born in Edinburgh. There was no way of telling that he'd go on to play for one of the world's biggest clubs and achieve the spectacular tally of 40 goals in a season.

The tail end of December 2006, saw a 16 year old Griffiths make his debut for young Scottish club Livingston, coming on as an 82nd minute substitute. He would remain at Livingston until the summer of 2009, scoring 26 goals in 53 appearances, meaning he scored in 49.1% of the games he featured in....

Estonia or Gibraltar bound

The draw for the Champions league second qualifying round was made today in Nyon and we now know who the first competitive opponents of the Brendan Rodgers era will be.

Celtic could potentially have been handed a very tricky tie against IFK Norrkoping, the reigning Swedish champions, who are entering at this round due to having no recent European experience to call upon. Instead however, we will travel to either Estonia to face Flora Tallinn, or Gibraltar, to face Lincoln Red Imps FC.

At this stage, the tie was always likely to be fairly simple on paper(despite the aforementioned Swedes). However I'm sure Rodgers will urge caution, as anything is possible in high stake games such as these.

So, it's official. After weeks of speculation and plenty of names being mentioned, Brendan Rodgers has been confirmed as the new Celtic manager on a 12 month rolling contract.

The news has delighted the Celtic support and it can only be viewed as a massive signal of intent by the club.

Brendan himself is currently out of the country in Spain however he did have this to say after the news had broken:

Celts hammer Motherwell in Paradise as Deila bids farewell

Sunday 15th May 2016

After officially securing the title against Aberdeen last weekend, all that was left to do for Ronny Deila and his Celtic squad was to ensure they finished the season on a high note. There can be absolutely no debate over whether or not they did that today, as Motherwell were well and truly embarrassed in the Glasgow sunshine to give Ronny the perfect send off.

From the very outset, it was clear that Celtic were baying for blood and desperate to put on a show for their departing gaffer and fans inside the stadium. With Biton and Brown both missing from the midfield, and main goal threat Leigh...

Following a dismal 2-1 defeat at McDiarmid Park to St Johnstone on Wednesday, Celtic now turn their attention towards Motherwell. However Sunday’s game holds special importance for the Glasgow club, not only because it’s their last game of the 2015/16 season, but because it will also be Ronny Deila’s final game in the Celtic dugout. The man from Norway has previously announced his intention to stand down after the match, following a string of poor performances in his second season in charge.

This will be the fourth meeting between the two clubs this season, with Celtic winning two of the three previous encounters. The last meeting between the two sides in early April resulted in a 2-1 victory for the Bhoys, although it was the snubbing of Ronny Deila by Mark McGhee...
