SCOTTISH LEAGUE CUP.
ROUND OF 16
CELTIC 3-2 HEARTS
Goals: Edouard (29) Welsh (34) Kyogo (63)
Hearts: Boyce (57 Pen) McEneff (92)
Sunday 15th August 2021
K.O. 3pm
Celtic Park. Glasgow
Attendance:
It definitely was a game of two halves in this enthralling cup clash at Celtic Park. The first half was like watching a Cat play with its prey before going for the kill. It will tease, it will roll, it will poke at the poor unsuspecting mouse to make it believe it is in a game. The cat however is only putting off the inevitable and will pounce when he has seen that the mouse has tired. Celtic went through this exact scenario until they went ahead on 28 minutes. The amount of times we could have been ahead before then is crazy. We are creating so much goal scoring opportunities under Postecoglou and it’s a dream to watch.

Celtic go into this weekend's League Cup encounter with Hearts with no shortage of motivation, but when it comes to revenge, there are few better.
The Jambos secured a 2-1 victory over the Bhoys on the opening day of the League campaign, just a couple of weeks ago. This has contributed to their fine start to the 2021/22 season, having won every competitive game they have played in so far.

This past 18 months or so, since I first heard of an outbreak of a transmittable disease in Wuhan, China - has been one of hard toil, emotional upheaval and a deep sense of missing the fine things in life. We have all taken for granted, the parts of everyday existence that made our lives as normal as they were.
Covid changed everything, and the future looked bleak for the foreseeable future. The optimist in me thought 6 months before lockdowns would cease, but the realist in me knew deep down that we would be in a sorry state for a long long time. We lost out on work, travel, socialising and also the ability to see family and friends. It was a terrible state of affairs. I began to know people who had contracted the disease. A work contact lost his sister in law. My best friend since school and his entire family came down with it, but thankfully no-one was hospitalised.
One thing that also struck me was the manner in which we were confirmed as 9 in a row champions of Scotland....

He danced, he dazzled, he dazed and he scored a hat trick. It could and should have been a double hat trick but Celtic’s new Man from Japan is going to shine in Hoops in the coming season. His movement and positional sense are fantastic. His creativity, monumental and he is now going to be the most requested name and number for printing on the Replica jerseys.
On a wet muggy Glasgow afternoon it could have been one of those days when the opposition turns up to Celtic Park with the game plan to frustrate Celtic in every way possible. Big Ange was well prepared and it was obvious from the kick off that we would press and play a high line. With the rebuilding job in its infancy we didn’t have the * given right to click and gel so well today but these players had a different idea and the...
This season has taught us several things and confirmed the age old adage of ‘Football’s a funny old game.’ For going on 5 years we have been used to and all have taken part in singing the 10 in a Row song. Arrogance. That’s the first lesson we need to learn from. Our own big fat arrogance that led us to believe we were only prophesying what lay ahead in the future. We were lording it up in the best way only football fans can. We were brash, elitist, self assured and unrepentant in glorifying and dancing on the grave of our biggest rivals whose demise was rightfully seen as justified and wholly deserving for their cheating and their own arrogance.
We as a fan base and more importantly, as a club, did not plan properly for a defence of the ultimate title goal of 10 in a Row. We sat back and basked in the sunshine believing the new entity of the rivals across the city would not, could not, possibly win a title because they were only a nine year old club....
