Having lost three of the first six league games, Celtic welcomed Dundee United to Celtic Park with a sense of optimism of getting a win. The injury woes had been getting increasingly worrying, but a home tie seemed like a good way of getting a run of wins started after some woeful away results.

Ange's team pretty much picked itself, with long term injury victim Jullien, still out, along with McGregor, Kyogo, Giakoumakis, Taylor, Dembele, Forrest and Johnston. Ajeti - our only fit first team striker would remain upfront and only Moffat on the bench could come on in a forward capacity to change anything. It is a sorry state of affairs and testament to the problems of losing so many players in the summer, without bolstering the squad with the quality replacements needed.

The first major action came from work down the right between Abada and Ralston. The full back was involved in a coming together with McMann on the right, but he recovered and got to his...

Sunday's clash with Dundee United is yet another crucial step for Celtic as they seek to reclaim their League title. And even though the campaign is only six games into this season, given the current wobbles away from home, it is imperative that they continue to make the most of every match which is held at Parkhead.

After Thursday's comfortable victory over Raith Rovers ensured passage to a League Cup Semi-Final showdown with holders, St Johnstone, all attention now returns to the league, and the visit of Dundee United.

SCOTTISH LEAGUE CUP Quarter Final

CELTIC 3-0 RAITH ROVERS

23rd September 2021. K.O. 7.45pm

Celtic Park. Glasgow.

Ange Postecoglou made three changes in defence to the team that started the defeat to Livingston in league duty. Out went Juranovic, Welsh and Bolingoli to make way for Ralston, Starfelt and Adam Montgomery and another game where we chopped and changed the back four. Championship side Raith Rovers rocked up to Celtic Park with the intention of adding more misery on a Celtic team that had lost two games on the bounce.

It was Rovers who looked to have settled quicker with assured play and passing in the first 25 minutes although Celtic were mostly in possession. On 3 minutes, new Bhoy, Jota twisted beautifully on the edge of the Raith box to get a shot away. The next decent opportunity would arrive on 19 minutes when Rogic raced to the bye-line to cut back for Ajeti who caught the ball on his heel but was...

Thursday's League Cup Quarter-Final encounter with Raith Rovers is more than just an opportunity to progress to the Final Four - and for good reason.

On a wider front, this match represents the opportunity to try and arrest a worrying run of form. And while this has only seemingly been a cause for concern while the Hoops have been on their travels, make no mistake any opportunity to pick up a win will be gratefully latched onto.

This will be the first such meeting between these sides in exactly 6 years (23 Sept 2015) - and just the fourth in total...

LIVINGSTON V CELTIC FC

Sunday 19/09/2021

Tony Macaroni Arena

K.O. 3pm

Celtic travelled through to West Lothian to face Livingston right off the back of the Europa League defeat against Real Betis on Thursday night. To be two up early on to capitulate and concede four goals was gut wrenching but getting back to winning ways in the league is of most importance currently. Celtic also need to get a monkey off their back in the fact that the last time they beat Livi at their ground was 14 years ago when the Hoops triumphed 1-4 in the Scottish cup (04/02/07). Since then in 4 visits there has been three draws and one Livingston victory.

To say Celtic don’t fancy their plastic pitch is an understatement and to be honest it is atrocious. For any team in any top professional league to be playing on plastic pitches does not credit the game itself and is what the fans pay good money to watch. The whole first half was so lacklustre and the game was...
