PREMIER LEAGUE CUP FINAL.

Sunday 19th December 2021. K.O. 3pm

Hampden Park, Glasgow.

HIBERNIAN 1-2 CELTIC
Scorers: Celtic. Kyogo (52, 72)
Hibernian: Hanlon (51)

On a very cold Glasgow December day it was definitely a game of two halves as far as Celtic is concerned. Totally dominant in the first half but lacking in the final third but more of an even game in the second half due to Hibs deciding to come out and attack.

It worked more in the favour of Celtic as Hibs left space at the back for The Bhoys to manipulate. Two brilliant Kyogo goals were enough to see the cup going back to Celtic Park trophy room after a one year absence. There were great performances by Hart, Juranovic and McGregor but the team's linchpin was big Tom Rogic again. Continuing his stellar performance dictating play from midfield and only bettered by the Wee man himself, Kyogo Furuhashi.

Celtic took to the field resplendent in their all green...

The first silverware of the 2021/22 season is up for grabs at Hampden Park this weekend - and the question is, will the Cup be destined for the east end of Glasgow, or be taken to the capital, Edinburgh?

Celtic are chasing their 20th League Cup triumph overall - and the first of the Ange Postecoglou era.

Additionally if they can manage to take the honours, it will be for the sixth time in the past eight years - including four on the trot that set the Hoops on the trail of those four consecutive treble winning seasons.

So while there is still a good sprinking of experience in the Celtic squad of having been here before, such...

The Bhoys celebrate Tom Rogic's strike v Motherwell at the weekend

Ange Postecoglou's Bhoys make the long trip to the northern-most point of their domestic campaign, to face Ross County in Dingwall.

The Hoops will be looking to add to their five consecutive victories in all competitions with another success against the Staggies, and to maintain that run of form going into the League Cup Final, this weekend.

But it makes no sense to look to Sunday, when there is a vital league match to contend with, and claim the three points at stake - every one of which could prove vital in the quest...

CELTIC 1-0 MOTHERWELL
Scorer: Rogic (45+3)

With injuries taking a toll Celtic were left without a recognised striker for the game with Motherwell. Kyogo, Jota, Giakoumakis and Ajeti were all missing from action and left Ange Postecoglou no option but to use David Turnbull in the number 9 role.

A 1-0 win would be enough to see the Hoops take three points and importantly another clean sheet and it was about as comfortable a 1-0 win as you will see. The breakthrough came on 45+2 when Turnbull delivered a free kick low ball along the deck to be met by Rogic who swept it home.

Celtic could have been three ahead by then but Liam Kelly in the Well goal had a man of the match performance and that cannot be ignored. He was called into action as early as the 4th minute when Callum McGregor managed to dig the ball out from under his feet. He slipped through to a...

CELTIC 3-2 REAL BETIS

Scorers: Celtic. Welsh (3) Henderson (72) Turnbull (78P)
Real Betis. Bain (69 OG) Iglesias (74)

It was labeled a dead rubber with nothing at stake for both teams as they had settled on their finishing places in the group. However, the players didn’t read the script. Celtic were completely revamped to rest most of the regulars to make way for squad fringe players, they had a point to prove.

Nir Bitton was acting Captain for the game as Ange saw fit to give a raft of youth players their golden chance to make a mark. Debuts were handed to Liam Shaw, Urhoghide and Liam Scales came in for his first start. Betis boss Pellegrini also made nine changes to his team that beat Barcelona at the weekend. Even with that, on paper, Betis looked like the team with advantage....
