Having won the first piece of Silverware of the season, the road to another possible treble saw Ange's Bhoys take on Raith Rovers at Celtic Park. In 1994, the very same club managed to cause a huge upset by beating us in the Coca Cola Cup final at Ibrox, which proves that you can't take smaller clubs like this lightly, and the manager fielded a very strong team to combat them.
In came Welsh, Bitton, Scales, Johnston, Forrest, Rogic and Giakoumakis for some much needed game time - with another strong bench should things take a turn for the worst.
Within a few minutes of the start it was Mikey Johnston who would have the first proper pop at goal as he cut in on his right foot to unleash an effort that flew narrowly over the bar. A lively start from Celtic saw Nir Bitton come close with a long range effort, but again the ball flew fractionally high of the bar.
Unfortunately the early promise seemed to fizzle out of the play and it was 22 minutes in,...

Since then, things have only gotten better for the Hoops, including going on to lift the League Cup back in December, and have recently returned to the top of the table in the league. And now, attention once again...

Celtic will be looking for their 8th consecutive victory, and a 16th win in 17 games across all competitions, when they make the journey to the North-East and take on Aberdeen at Pittodrie on Wednesday evening.
With so many fixtures continuing to come so thick and fast, there is little time to get carried away with past performances as attention is all too quickly having to be turned to the next so soon. And this week is no exception.

MOTHERWELL 0-4 CELTIC
Scorers: Abada (28) Rogic (31,45) Maeda (71)
This game had the potential of being a banana skin after the exertions by the Celts on Wednesday against rangers but we should not have fretted one bit. More to the point is how we didn’t end up with a double figure scoreline.

Celtic per usual were dominant in possession and went about their business with gusto. Postecoglou made three changes to the team that started the Glasgow Derby. Ralston, Rogic and Maeda took their places ahead of Juranović, Jota and O’Riley.
The Hoops could have been ahead as early as the 2nd minute. Ralston laid a lovely cutback on a plate for Abada who struck first time only to see Kelly make a save with an outstretched leg. Giakoumakis led the line brilliantly as he made himself a headache for the Well defence....

Celtic will be looking for their 7th consecutive win when they make the short journey away across Lanarkshire this weekend and a potentially tricky showdown with Motherwell at Fir Park.
