Celtic Halt McFadden Transfer Talk.

Celtic today have separated themselves from a deal involving Bobo Balde and £5.5million for James McFadden.

The Scotland Superstar has been on the Celtic fans' radar for a good while now and was widely tipped to join the Bhoys in January . Instead he went to Birmingham City who were later relegated to the Championship.

The club and the fans would have been glad to see the back of Bobo Balde, not because of his performances, but because he does not seem to be in Gordon Strachans plans and is one of the clubs top earners at £28,000 a week which he gets for sitting in the stands week in week out.

Clearly McFadden has talent and many Celtic fans will be disappointed not to have him at Celtic Park, but with Nakamura and Aiden McGeady staying at 'Paradise' it would be hard for McFadden to break into the first team and the transfer fee would be too...
Celtic to Move for McFadden ?

Reports are emerging that Scotland international James McFadden may be set to leave relegated Birmingham City during the summer. Eyebrows were raised when McFadden left Everton to join the Blues in their fight for Premiership survival. However his close relationship with Birmingham boss Alex McLeish may have swayed McFadden's decision as the two worked well together during McLeish's brief reign as Scotland manager.

There are suggestions that McFadden had a relegation clause in his contract which would allow him to leave for £3m, a price which may tempt many Premiership suitors given Birmingham parted with twice that figure to secure his services. Further rumours suggest that Celtic have offered cash plus central defender Bobo Balde in exchange for his talents.

There has been constant speculation that McFadden will return north to ply his trade in the SPL, with both Celtic and Rangers being touted as interested. It is well known...
Nakamura will play despite ankle injury.

Celtic's Japanese playmaker will take to the field tomorrow playing through the pain barrier as his country hope to take another vital step towards qualification for the 2010 World Cup. The mercurial midfielder received a pain killing injection to play his part in the midweek 3-0 victory over Thailand and intends to make himself available for the crucual qualifier. A narrow defeat earlier in the year to tomorrow's opponents Bahrain had setback hopes of qualification but with the Japanese campaign back on track Nakamura said,

"The ankle feels better. Of course I want to play. We lost to Bahrain away so it's important we beat them at home.".

Nakamura has endured an inconsistent season at Celtic, partly down to injury and partly down to almost two years without a rest from competitive football. Despite this the free-kick specialist found the mettle to play a vital role in his club's thrilling championship victory...
When Feyenoord defeated Celtic in their only European Cup triumph in 1970 their Dutch international defender Wim Jansen could have no idea that some 28 years later, in his one season as Celtic manager, he would earn himself a place in Celtic folklore by winning the Premier League and halting arch rivals Rangers quest to win ten championships in a row.

As the then Premier League ended, along with Rangers ten in a row aspirations, a new rebranded SPL was formed and ten years on Celtic still find themselves at the top of the pile, as reigning champions, and as the SPL’s most successful club.

Statistic’s released this week make for interesting reading with Celtic having won six of the ten SPL championship’s contested, three apiece for both Martin O’Neill and his successor Gordon Strachan.

Of the 376 games played by each club Celtic again come out on top with 280 victories to Rangers 256. Celtic amassing an impressive 891 points in the ten year period.

Patrick McCourts former Boss claims he can be better than Aiden McGeady.

New Celtic signing Patrick McCourt has already been tipped to dazzle the Celtic supporter, even more than their current hero, Aiden McGeady.

Former boss Roddy Collins had this to say,""Paddy is a sensational player, an outstanding talent. He is a more natural footballer than McGeady and I'm serious about that."

For a modest fee of £100,000 plus an extra £50,000 dependng on the amount of first team appearances, not many Celtic fans would have thought the unkown Irish man could possibly live up to the wonders of McGeady.

McCourt,24, is naturally a winger but former boss Collins thinks he may be better playing just behind the Celtic front two,"Managers have played him as a winger but he's better behind the front where he can kill...
