EPL SAY NO TO CELTIC!
News reports are stating that English Premier League clubs have “overwhelmingly rejected” Phil Gartside’s proposal for a two-tier league in England, featuring Celtic and Rangers.
The Premier League’s statement reads as follows:
“The clubs welcomed the additional input into an ongoing process, however they were of the opinion bringing Celtic and Rangers into any form of Premier League set-up was neither desirable or viable.
“The...
Mowbray: “I strongly believe our team can only get better.” Well Tony, that’s a relief!
Speaking ahead of the latest round of International matches, where a number of Celtic first-teamers will be on duty representing their respective nations, manager Tony Mowbray stressed his view that a prolonged period of domestic football without interruption would work wonders for the Bhoys.
After a stuttering start to the SPL season, and a calamitous Europa Cup campaign thus far, Mowbray is already a manager under pressure. Sunday’s eventual draw against bottom of the table Falkirk was a poor way to begin a two week break, but the manager was keen to stress the positives.
“The big benefit for us is that, after this...
Celtic’s interest in Nagamoto, as Sung-yong transfer is clarified.
Celtic look set to increase their profile in the Far East, according to today’s newspaper reports in Japan. The player in question is 23 year old right-sided defender Yuto Nagamoto, of FC Tokyo, who has been capped 18 times at International level, and was recommended as a purchase by ex-Bhoy Shunsuke Nakamura before the player left the club in the Summer.
While the form of Andreas Hinkel has been one of the few high points for Tony Mowbray’s men defensively, the Celtic manager is keen to add strength in depth to his squad, and the purchase of Nagamoto before his potential exploits in next Summer’s World Cup would be seen as financially prudent.
Meanwhile, fans of...

Celtic again put in an extremely poor performance as they drop yet more points in the SPL, this time being held to a draw by bottom of the table Falkirk. Falkirk started the livelier and if truth be told deserved more than the point they got.
Celtic had the first chance of the game as Fortuné was brought down unfairly by Scott Arfield within the opening 2 minutes, however, Paddy McCourt’s resulting free kick was easily gathered by Robert Olejnik in the Falkirk goal.

Celtic travel to bottom placed Falkirk this afternoon looking to put the grueling disappointment of Hamburg behind them, and go five points clear of their arch-rivals Rangers at the summit of the SPL table.
Scott Brown and Shaun Maloney are the only major casualties for Celtic, neither of whom featured in Germany. Brown’s ankle and Maloney’s heel sees the emergence of two up-and-coming stars, looking to take advantage of the absence of two names typically first to be inked on Tony Mowbray’s team-sheet.
