Caldwell Moves On
Celtic Football Club today confirmed the departure of centre back and ex-SFWA Player of the Year Gary Caldwell to Wigan on a four and a half year contract.
Caldwell had been in talks with Ex-Celtic manager Gordon Strachans Middlesbrough but the deal fell through and Caldwell decided to move to the English Premiership with Wigan.
Caldwell said "“It’s a massive wrench for me to leave a club like Celtic but I want to thank the club and all the fans for the support they’ve given me in my time there.
“But I’m a Wigan Athletic player now and I can’t wait to get started in the Premier League.”
Caldwell leaves with mixed feelings towards a player who in his time with Celtic lifted 2 league titles, a Scottish Cup and a Scottish League Cup. Many fans are glad to see the back of the player who has struggled to recapture his form...
CELTIC: Hooiveld signs on the dotted line.
Celtic have this afternoon officially confirmed that Dutch defender Jos Hooiveld will join the club on a three and a half year contract.
While the announcement was expected, official confirmation that Celtic’s back line has been bolstered will provide the fan faithful with a crucial boost, ahead of the challenges to come.
Hooiveld - welcome to Celtic Park!

A Decade In Paradise
Paradise - where Celtic dreams come true.
Looking back on the past decade at Parkhead, I think that we can be very proud of what our great team has achieved. Nobody can argue with six Premier League titles, four Scottish cups and four League Cups as well as a historic run to a European final in 2003. We have witnessed some fantastic players in this time and we are privileged to have seen players of the calibre of Larsson, Moravcik and Lambert. All in all, the Noughties have indeed been one of the most successful periods in our long and coloured history.

Following a disappointing loss at Tynecastle last week, Celtic are looking to rebound against Hamilton at Parkhead. The Hoops seemed to be cruising in the lead up to the Hearts game having won several fixtures and seeing a second string team gamely draw 3-3 in Austria, but were undone by a penalty conceded as Gary Caldwell put in a risky last ditch tackle after some untidy work by Glenn Loovens.
Hamilton have won their last two games and will look to steal a point from the hosts in their efforts to distance themselves from the bottom of the table. The Accies last encounter with the Old Firm saw them thrashed 4-1 by Rangers, and they will be looking to give a better account of themselves this time around.
Celtic's logical defensive centre pairing is likely to consist of Loovens and McManus, two strong defenders who are known for occasional lapses in judgement. In their last outing the pair shipped 3 goals within 20 minutes to Rapid Wien and were only bailed out through the...

Today had one of those star-crossed feelings to it for the bhoys. At the start of the game Hearts did well to close down space as the ball was batted around and possession flitted between the two sides. Celtic began to assert control and play the ball around between them looking for a way through. At twenty minutes a corner saw McDonald hit the post with a strong header and Samaras knock home the rebound. The two strikers did not link as well as they may have, but the Bhoys looked ready to get a result nonetheless. And then habits caught up with the defense.
