Samaras hits a hat trick for the Hoops

:shamrock:

Celtic looked to be firmly in control when goals from Kris Commons and Samaras fired them into a three-goal lead at a sun kissed Rugby Park.
Hope of a Killie revival was spurred from two goals by Sammy Clingan and Sean Clohessy before Samaras sealed his hat-trick and Amido Balde fired home to seal Celtics fifth of the afternoon.

Neil Lennon put out a stronger than the one that crashed out of the league cup in midweek to championship side Morton. The more...

Kilmarnock vs Celtic
Scottish Premiership
Rugby Park
28th September 2013
Kick Off: 12.45pm (GMT)

Fresh off the back of a shocking and surprise defeat to Greenock Morton in the League Cup this past week in Glasgow, Celtic make their return to league duty at Kilmarnock this weekend, hoping to prepare themselves in style for the upcoming visit of Catalan giants Barcelona in the second match of their UEFA Champions League campaign on Tuesday night.

Although he cut a very calm and composed figure in his post match interview on Tuesday night, after Morton ran out 1-0 winners at Celtic Park, manager Neil Lennon will more than likely have given his players the hairdryer treatment in his team talk, after the match had finished. There is little doubt that the fiery Irishman will have his team set and raring to go before the first whistle blows this afternoon.

There is also an unusual...

Samaras the Sole Survivor as Celtic take on Morton.

44 months have passed since Celtic last played Morton in a competitive fixture. Back in January 2010, the Bhoys had Tony Mowbray at the helm, and entered the match on the back of a dire run of form.

Mowbray’s men were victorious that day – a narrow 1-0 away win achieved as a result of Niall McGinn’s first half strike. And yet, of the starting 11, only Georgios Samaras remains on the books at Celtic Park.

While McGinn has gone on to thrive at Aberdeen in a more central role, the likes of Artur Boruc (Fiorentina & Southampton,) Aiden McGeady (Spartak Moscow,) and Marc-Antoine Fortune (West Brom & Wigan) had also departed before the start of the 2010/11 season – while Mowbray himself reached the point of no return a mere 2...

Celtic were victorious today in an unusual end to a game they dominated. Teemu Pukki continued the encouraging start to his career in the Hoops, by putting the side ahead just over ten minutes into the game. Given the negative way Tommy Wright instructed the Saints to play, many Celtic supporters would have expected not only assured victory, but in a glorious fashion with lots of goals.

The Bhoys looked in an upbeat mood following their crushing loss in mid-week. Neil Lennon did a fine job rallying his side to entertain the Celtic faithful at home. However, the fans only had one other goal to celebrate in the first half. Charlie Mulgrew pulled off another long-range effort to add to his tally for the season....

Pukki could be handed first Celtic start

To play for Celtic one must have a winning mentality, players from bigger leagues with more money have come to Scotland and Celtic thinking you know i can cope with this league. It simply isn't the same standard as the top European leagues. Yet when you come to play for Celtic you don't just compete in an average league you play for one of the biggest club sides on the planet with an expectation to win every single game no matter who the opposition is.

This mentality is required to play for Celtic, a never say die attitude and to never be content with a good performance but eventually losing. Charlie Mulgrew in the aftermath of the cruel loss to AC Milan remarked...
