This weekends game is the last before Christmas. The visitors coming to Celtic Park have had a torrid season. One must hope that Celtic do not give them an early Christmas present on Saturday. As is always the case when the league leaders meet the side at the bottom, the chance of a scare always seems so unlikely yet likely at the same time. The last time these sides met the Bhoys handed the Jambos a seven nil thrashing. A result like that stays in the memory for a long long time. The chance of an upset because of the last score-line has only increased rather than declined.

It has been a hard week for Celtic and Celtic fans, while the match against Barcelona meant little in terms of further European football it was still a hard result to stomach. It has highlighted deficiencies in the team and the management squad that quite a few fans already knew. In addition to the damaging result against the Catalans Celtic have disbanded the section where the Green Brigade congregate in section 111.

This has come as a result of certain political and certain opinions being voiced. In the spirit of being unbiased it has also been caused by fans, the minority, needlessly ripping up seats and throwing a smoke bomb onto the park against Motherwell. The good times continued as Celtic unleashed another master-class in football on the SPFL. Not only was it pleasing to see so many goals scored, but the manner of the victory is particularly sweet. Celtic played not only with free abandon; there was a real grit and determination about the side, too. Neil’s men began against Motherwell the same way they finished the last game, unequivocally aware of their own dominance.

It took a long time for the Hoops to make the breakthrough, the goal coming late in the first half. However, Celtic controlled the play throughout the half and with their fans in jovial mood despite the chill of winter, it always looked like the Glasgow side would make the breakthrough.
