Talk Celtic Preview: The Streak Continues

Celtic v Kilmarnock
SPFL, Wednesday 29th January 2014
Celtic Park, 19:45

Following a short domestic break earlier in the month, the games are coming thick and fast again for Celtic as they host Kilmarnock at Celtic Park on Wednesday night.

With an aggregate score of 29-0 over their last ten SPFL games, Celtic has created a couple of reasons to maintain focus and carry their momentum forward into the later stages of the season. With the title long tied up, The Hoops have found motivation in the thought of going unbeaten throughout this season’s league campaign, as...

It was the summer of 2010. Celtic were once again in the rebuilding process following an insipid campaign. Despite an encouraging turnaround following Neil’s late and temporary appointment, the 2009 team were incapable of wresting the title from Rangers grasp. Fans were impressed with what they had seen, nonetheless, and were excited at the prospect of the Irishmen in charge of their team. Much damage had been done under Tony Mowbray’s tenure, but the Lurgan man was determined to not allow it to continue.

Weeks following Neil’s full time appointment as manager, the club secured the signing of Joe Ledley on a free transfer. It was to prove to be a masterstroke by the new manager. The player would arrive from Cardiff City, who were experiencing an unusual high, backed by youth talents such as Aaron Ramsey, and eventual Celt, Adam Matthews. The Welsh Wizard was an integral figure for the Bluebirds, guiding them to the ’08 F.A. Cup...

Hibernian 0-4 Celtic
Scottish Premiership
Easter Road
26th January 2014

Celtic produced a second half masterclass in Edinburgh to dispose of Hibs and extend their lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership table to fifteen points, with two games in hand over their nearest title rivals Aberdeen still to be played in the coming weeks.

Kris Commons' 20th goal of the campaign was the only successful strike of the first half, and although Hibs rallied and mounted a respectable response against clearly superior opposition, they could not beat Fraser Forster in the Hoops' goal despite many close calls, especially in the second half.

The England international had to be on top form and at full concentration to deny several Hibs players an equaliser that most unbiased supporters would have said was deserved at that point in the contest, but Hibs were then made to...

A team like Celtic takes a lot of flak at times like this, the league is a 'cakewalk', we have more money than the rest of the teams in the full of Scotland put together and according to universal opinion we should breeze every match. When we win 1-0 there is an outcry, as we recently saw when we had three 1-0 wins in a row . There is a certain type of pressure that comes within Celtic Football Club that is unique in world football.

We are the only club in the world with the expectation on its shoulders to go into their domestic competition and win a treble, every year and when slip ups like Morton happen all * breaks loose. The argument goes, if everyone else is so poor, how can we lose? On the other side of the coin, we have fans going to Parkhead on European nights expecting a win against the likes of Barcelona, one of the greatest teams to ever play the game (well we done it last season, how...

Celtic vs Motherwell
SPFL, 18th January, 2014
Celtic Park, 3PM (GMT)

After a refreshing short winter break in Antalya its back to domestic business for the Hoops. While watching Celtic in friendly competitions certainly helps the 'fix' they are nothing like real competitive matches. What the competition in Turkey did reveal though is that there are players in Celtic's extended squad who are more than capable of stepping up to the first team.

The likes of Fisher, Henderson and Balde all performed really well against some quite reasonable opposition. The likes of Muslera, Sol Bamba (for his comical effect) and Sneijder. The youngsters were up against some top class players and they performed with distinction. Now as we all know too well managers can be...
