Throughout our history the will to win and overcome all the odds to do so has been a theme from our inception. Whether it’s that first meeting in St. Mary’s Hall to the Coronation Cup win in ‘53, Lisbon in ‘67 to the Centenary Season in ‘88 that never say die team spirit has been a part of our make up and part of the very fabric of our great club.

The Establishment team however were riding high and hot favourites to win the title after the revolution that new owner David Murray had brought which saw the cream of England coming north to play for Rangers in an astonishing reversal of the trend which saw many young Scots head south for the money.

Terry Butcher, Trevor Francis, Ray Wilkins and Chris Woods were some of the big name stars wooed north by Murray’s seamingly endless pit of cash and all the clever money was on that assortment of riches paying dividends.

Party time at Partick?

Partick Thistle v Celtic
SPFL, Wednesday 26th March, 19:45

After a comfortable 3-0 vistory against St Mirren at the weekend, Celtic have the opportunity to win the title when they visit Firhill, but only if Aberdeen slip up first.

Another title party is coming soon

Going into the local derby 24 point ahead at the top of the SPL, Celtic know that another four points will secure the title. If Ross County can upset Aberdeen the night before however, then the league title can be won on Wednesday night. A win against...

St Mirren 0.

Celtic moved in on the Scottish Premiership title as they strolled to a 3-0win over a tough St Mirren at Parkhead.

The win means the Hoops remain 24 points clear of Aberdeen, who have a game in hand, with eight games remaining and are now four points away from clinching a third successive championship.

Leigh Griffiths had an effort ruled out for offside before Stefan Johansen gave Celtic the lead a minute before the break with his first goal for the club, getting on to the end of a right footed cross from Griffiths to bullet a header beyond Kello in the St Mirren goal.

Lennon looking to wrap the title up as quickly as possible

The countdown has started, just 7 points are required for Celtic to win their third consecutive SPFL title. This relies on Celtic's close competitors, if we can call them close, to win their next two games. If either Aberdeen or Motherwell were to slip up in their next games then Celtic could clinch the title in their next game away to Partick Thistle.

Memories of the fantastic away day at Kilmarnock spring to mind and such an occasion would be welcome this time round. Since the title is now in sight i cannot see Lennon changing the team too much. There may well be one or two changes to the team that duly dispatched Kilmarnock last Friday.

Changes that could be made are to...

The unbeaten run is over. The clean sheet run is over. While some supporters will be disappointed to see two historic streaks come to an end, there are positives to look forward to in advance of today’s clash with Inverness Caledonian Thistle. After two losses to Aberdeen in as many weeks, the Celts will be looking for any positives they can find. Here are three things to which the supporters can look forward.

1. Solidifying the central midfield: Lennon claimed in the press that Stefan Johansen is back to health after missing the match against Aberdeen, and supporters will be keen to see whether the boss maintains a central three in the form of the aforementioned Johansen, Nir Biton, and skipper Scott Brown. Charlie Mulgrew replaced the injured Norwegian midweek, so Lennon will have to decide first whether to keep the shape, and second whether to reinsert Johansen...
