Celtic 0-1 Hamilton Academical
Celtic Park, Glasgow.
5/10/14, K.O 13:00

In a match where Celtic showed little in the way of creativity in the final third, Hamilton Academical capitalized to take home all three points from Parkhead for the first time in 75 years.

The game started slowly with Johansen providing the only bit of spark from midfield, sliding in Scott Brown and Anthony Stokes on a couple of occasions.

On 11 minutes, Scott Brown nodded a ball through to the in-form John Guidetti who, after a sublime first touch, passed the ball inches wide of the keeper's right hand post. This proved to be the Bhoys best opportunity of the game.

Celtic 1-0 Dinamo Zagreb
UEFA Europa League
2nd October 2014
Celtic Park

Celtic continued their unbeaten start to their Europa League campaign with a deserved, although at times unconvincing, victory over the reigning Croatian champions Dinamo Zagreb at Celtic Park this evening.

After drawing 2-2 with Red Bull Salzburg in Austria two weeks ago, in a match touted by many as the Bhoys' toughest fixture in the group stages this season, Celtic supporters everywhere tonight knew that a victory would be vital if they are to have any true hopes of progressing to the knockout stages of this competition.

Dinamo have already proven themselves to be no pushovers so far this season, having demolished FC Astra with a resounding 5-1 scoreline in their opening game of the group stages a fortnight ago. Fortunately, Celtic's home record over the years in Europe has been nothing...

When The Saints Go Marching Back

“He doesn't have a clue! He's got to go,” my father said as Celtic played St Mirren today at Greenhill Road. Perhaps a sentiment shared by many Celtic supporters, but it is undeniable that Deila's team is slowly beginning to pick up the pace.

Celtic went into today's SPFL fixture on the momentum of a 3-0 victory against Hearts in their previous Scottish League Cup clash. And as Guidetti opened the scoring against Hearts he carried that same spirit into the game against St Mirren with a 42 minute nudge of the ball into the net.

But St Mirren would not be content and began to put the pressure on Celtic. After aggressive play up the Bhoy's right, McLean managed to put the ball past Gordon to make an equaliser for the home side. Under pressure to bring a solid result back to Paradise, the team moved into a 4-4-2 offensive. Having Stokes move up...

Guidetti Off The Mark

Celtic's Swedish striker gets his first goal

It has been five years since Celtic last won the League Cup, an extra time triumph against the late Rangers. It has not been a fruitful competition for Celtic over the past couple of seasons. Losses against Morton, St. Mirren and Kilmarnock are but a few defeats the Hoops faithful have had to endure in recent memory.

A result of those defeats has meant that opposing teams face Celtic with optimism and a freedom that they usually would not. Of course anything can happen in cup games and shocks are a part and parcel of that. However Celtic's record in both cups over the past few years has been deplorable and that is not an exaggeration. This has meant that, for Deila, the cups do provide a route for not only glory but also tragedy.

The Norwegian has come under significant pressure in...

Red Bull Salzburg 2-2 Celtic
Red Bull Arena
Europa League
18th September 2014

Celtic began their 2014/2015 Europa League campaign with a well deserved four goal draw against Red Bull Salzburg in Austria, courtesy of goals from debutant winger Wakaso Mubarak and a deflected effort from captain Scott Brown.

On paper, this was heavily expected to be the Bhoys' toughest group game, but those fears were put to rest rather early on when on loan winger Wakaso, making his very first appearance for the club, fizzed a left footed effort low past Salzburg goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi after a pass from teammate Kris Commons, to score his first goal since joining from Rubin Kazan on loan until the end of the season.

Although Celtic have been notorious so far this season for failing to hold on to their early leads in European competition, for example,...
