No credible doubt that the Highlands and Islands of Scotland with places like the Cairngorms contain areas of real wilderness and are now a kind of nature reserve by default.
One main reason why you exclusively have wonders like the Golden & Sea eagles still (on what is a comparatively small island) is that historically humans could not get to exploit them so readily in such wilderness.
The Highlands of Donegal and Kerry and Wicklow in Ireland used to contain many more species including native eagles, but all those that were sadly wiped out a century more ago by the blind greed of so called humanity.
Have some again thanks to projects, would love to sight the white tailed sea eagle off the coast of Kerry which are reported to be doing ok there.
Visiting the Skelligs this summer so might get lucky with a sighting.

That's a stunning list mate. You're making me jealous seeing a Ptarmigan. I've never even been close to seeing one, but I've seen a few Golden Eagles in my time. It's a sight you NEVER forget. I've only seen one Hare in my life, and can still describe the scene to this day, Near Loch Lomond. Glad you had a good time mate.

As in previous post the reason I have not seen the Kestrels it is because there are none. On the bright side it's a pair of perignan falcons watch them on and off today. I went up to the nesting box they have 4 chicks will go up tomorrow and take some photos and try and post them when I get home

Same here good pal,and tomorrow looks set to be 29,even 30 back in Aviemore:lol: Tomorrow after taking Ruby Boxer 4.30-7.30am to avoid the heatwave i am going to the North Wales Moors and Forest next to a cool large Reservoir with a good mate, should get some good birds of prey, and chance of Adder or even Grass Snake if i am very lucky, also slight chance of Red Squirrel, also cool Butterflies and Dragonflies and Common Lizard as well as other cool bird species:lol:
I look forward to putting a half decent report when i get back mid afternoon.
