A shade over two months until voting day in Scotland then.

I have no doubt the SNP will win the election, and the real question is by how much?

Anyway, who will you be voting for and why? I've included a poll with as many parties who may contest the election in some way as possible. If I've missed any, apologies.

The poll, much like your vote, is anonymous.

That's a good shout, actually. No doubt you'll be hit with the old "well, you can't complain if you don't vote" chat though! :smiley-laughing002:

I'm in no position to decide at the moment as I haven't read their policies lately. I'll give the manifestos a read then choose. Although, I agree that the SNP will walk it, rightly or wrongly.

I don't think I'll be bothering this time. I very nearly didn't vote at the General Election but got talked into voting SNP at the last minute due to a desire to see my lying * of an MP(Alistair Carmichael) booted out. Somehow he survived.

I just don't feel like I can give my vote to the SNP right now and I certainly wouldn't vote for any of the other three mainstream parties. I suppose I could go and vote for one of the Socialist parties on the list but there hardly seems any point. They won't even muster up a single MSP between them in my opinion. So there's nobody to vote for really.

For the constituency vote I'll probably vote SNP, regionally I'm not sure yet. I'd rather not give the SNP both votes tbh, I want a little bit more diversity at Holyrood but I'm not going to vote for a Unionist party or any of the loonies.

Is there a party out there that is left leaning economically but conservative(small c) on social issues?

That's the kind of party I'd vote for.

SNP anything else is a wasted vote, don't understand people who wouldn't, that's if I could vote of course.

    UKIP probably:97:

SNP on list. For regional, I think I will vote:

    1. Green
    2. SNP
    3. Labour

I * hate that way of thinking. If more people voted for the party that they actually thought best represented their beliefs then we'd maybe see something other than the usual suspects roll into office every few years.

    * tactical voting.

I wouldn't exactly call the SNP's economic policies left wing. If they were, I don't think you'd be voting for them. :86: Slightly left of centre, maybe.

I also wouldn't class any party that rams through legislation legalising gay marriage as being socially conservative.

UKIP certainly don't believe in left wing economics. They're a low taxation party led by an ex Tory.

That's the thing though, a lot of people don't have a party that properly represents their views so they vote for who they think are the best of a * bunch.

    Very true.

While I 100% agree with Daibhi in principle, if I lived in a constituency with a Tory MP and you told me that my vote could get him out but I'd have to vote for Liebour or the Lib Dems to do it then I probably would. I wouldn't be happy about it but if it meant one less Tory * in parliament then it would be done. In reality though, you never are going to know if your one vote would make that difference. So whenever I vote I do just vote for the party that I think most represents my values or interests.

I'm pretty sure we would see less tactical voting if we had a fairer voting system though. The first past the post system absolutely lends itself to tactical voting and helps to preserve the Punch and Judy show that the Tories and Liebour have had going on for the last century.

    As 'left' as is sensible.

Legislation that brought the country into the 21st century, Christ even the tories are more in touch with people on this issue. Perhaps we should repeal the law and also ban immigrants as well :smiley-laughing002:
