Because he isn’t a ‘squad player at best’. :56:

Last season is irrelevant, he’s played well this season.

The way he’s playing just now, I would say he is, hence the reason he has been on the bench a lot in the last year or so.

At his best though? No he isn’t but as of right now he’s been getting well outperformed by guys in a fraction of his wage like Ryan Christie.

He deserved to be dropped last season but he deserves his starting spot just now.

Where did I say he doesn’t deserve his place just now, that’s how you use squad players, they come in and out of the first team. Exactly like Sinclair has been doing.

You didn’t say it directly but it read like you alluded to it.

Squad players don’t start the last seven games in a row.

He’s not a squad player either.

Prior to those 7 he started 2 games and had 3 sub appearances this season. The very definition of a squad player.

So he was a squad player before he wasn't a squad player.

Then you’re reading what you want into it, I didn’t say that in the slightest and the last few pages of this thread I’ve been saying much the same.

Ryan Christie has also started the last 7 games and the position is his to lose but he’s still a squad player.

Sinclair deserves his place just now but he has spent a lot of the time on the bench because, as you said, it’s been deserved and that is what squad players do. Come in as and when they’re needed, he’s came in when we’ve had a horrific period of injuries and done well enough that he should keep that spot just now.

If a squad player can’t play 7 games in a row when we’re inundated with injuries, can a first team player spend as much time as he has on the bench?

What would you say our best XI is Minty? The 11 who would start for you?

Sinclair is anything but a squad player when on form.

Goals and assists record speakes for itself.

    He hasn't.

He's had one or two decent games and scored 5 goals (2 being penalties), but over the course of his 25 appearances he's not played consistently well. At all.

Said it before but you look at our strongest starting XI this season...right back and left wing are quite clearly the two areas of the pitch that are lagging behind the rest of the team. And even then, I'd say Lustig has been better than Sinclair of late.

A couple of goals here and there doesn't hide the fact that Sinclair's performances have been poor. You only need to look at the number of chances he's missed, the number of times he gets brushed off the ball, how rarely he runs at a defender and gets past him.

When on form is the key phrase in that. I think he deserves his place in the team just now but I wouldn’t even say he’s on form. He was on form his first season, he was on form infront of goal at the start of last season.

This season though he’s just been useful.

Disagree that he’s only had a couple of decent games and if he had, he wouldn’t be starting.

Did I say I couldn’t back it up? No. I was having a laugh as you were clearly asking that to see if I’d put Sinclair in our best 11. I would, btw.

Saying Sinclair is a squad player at best is something to laugh at. It’s sheer nonsense. He’s played well this season. Hasn’t been at his best, but that doesn’t mean he hasn’t done well when playing.

People trying to use penalties scored, against him is hilarious too. Oh my *, some of his goals have been penalties. So what.
