Discuss Nick Hammond joins Celtic, initial trial period. in the Celtic Chat area at TalkCeltic.net.
As I alluded to previously in the thread I have a vague hope he is here more as a consultant to help with the recruitment of a new director of football and a head of recruitment. Setting up the framework and creating the job profiles, that kind of thing as he has done the roles before and knows what is required. It could be why he is only here short term, and would also explain why it just says helping with recruitment and not specifically player recruitment. But I suspect that is just wishful thinking on my part.
Yup... just like Lenny was only helping us after Ratgers abandoned ship...
so Nick's doing a good job so far, it seems
Already there seems to be more urgency in gettin deals done, also more of an effort to get rid of the dead wood.
Lookin good so far but we'll have tae wait and see what happens over the coming weeks.
It's hard to decipher what he's been involved with and what was in motion before he came in. I'm sure Lennon had a big say in who he sees as surplus and what the priority positions we need signings in are.
Will judge his summer when we go into the season proper.
Been here 3 days, already done a better job than Congerton..
3 days, 2 signings. Lawell will be sacking him for spending money....
Are we starting a car show on Celtic TV?
Seems like we've been working on signings for weeks before he's come in, despite what some panic merchants saying that we'd just stop working until he started this week everythings a shambles we're embarrassing etc...
Apart from having contacts and a possible list of singings, I guess his job will be as much to look at how we operate at the moment and go over what changes and restructuring we'd need behind the scenes if we're moving to a DoF model, since we've never worked that way before.
We’re not privy to the work he’s doing but what we can tell is he’s definitely not sticking the brakes on things any way....
Hope he can help with Harper..
Well its a start. We have signed a centre back, a left back and a promising midfielder, with anticipation that Tierney is going to leave.
We lost ten from last seasons squad.
There is a lot of work to be done to get the squad back up to strength and we are still weak at right back.
Still a lot tae be done.............................get the finger oot Nick son !
Gonna be impossible to know how much influence or impact he's had or will have on signings unless someone comes out and actually tells us exactly what he's done.
You'd have to imagine a lot of this early activity would have been in the pipeline before he arrived.
Hope he does a good job though, bars not exactly been set high.
Definitely a lot more activity/irons in the fire since he's came in/been due to come in..
Don't think it's a stretch to imagine he's been working away in the background unofficially just before being announced official..
Our window's certainly didn't seem exciting or imminent on anything under the snake and his pal..
Hard to know how much input he's had so far, if any. The three signings so far were in or all but confirmed.
Regardless, as a collective its a disgrace we don't have a RB in as of yet. Again we went into a CL Qualifier with a makeshift defence, CB at RB and a utility player at CB.
Just can't get my head around it, we came through the game but it was a gamble we shouldn't have needed to have taken.
Hopefully we will see another 4 or 5 come in quickly as the early trasfer momentum seems to be easing off.
Aye, it's time to get a move on. We done well to get Jullien and Mbombo deals over the line. Connell will prove to be a good signing in the long run but he's not going to go immediately into the team.
The issue is that we are a few weeks ahead of most other English or European teams in terms of pre-season, anyone we bring in will need time to get up to speed and it's time that we don't have during these qualifiers. If we have to pay a few hundred grand extra to conclude deals quickly then so be it.
We're waiting on the whoopsies going out at Tesco when people are already in our gaff wanting their dinner.
Can see sawyers been signed this weekend with a rightback.
If Hammond's the one pushing to get deals done quickly i hope the board signs him permanently.
