Welcome to Celtic! Excited that we have a player who looks to be genuinely two footed.

Excited by this. Can't wait to seem him in the summer; hopefully he continues to tear it up with St Mirren and is able to come in and rip it up for us right from the start.

LEWIS Morgan believes his self-belief and first-team experience will stand him in good stead when he attempts to cement a place in the Celtic starting XI in the summer.

The 21-year-old, who joined the Scottish treble-winners today on a four-and-a-half year deal, from St Mirren has already notched up more than 100 competitive appearances for the Championship leaders.

He will return to the Buddies on loan for the remainder of the campaign to try and inspire them to promotion to the top flight before starting life as a Celtic player in pre-season.

Confident in his own ability to thrive at highest level, the highly-rated winger insists he will be relish fighting for a starting berth with the Bhoys.

Morgan said: “I have really good self-belief and hopefully I can come and hit the ground running and then it’s up to me - if I do well enough then I am sure I will get a chance, and the manager has proven that with other young players.

“I have that experience of playing at different levels. I played in the Premiership, albeit very briefly and then in the Championship. To get those senior minutes under your belt is important to young players and hopefully it can stand me in good stead here.

“I am probably the longest-serving player there along with one other, which is crazy to think as I am only 21. But that’s the turnover there has been at the club, and I have been through my fair share of managers as well, so I do have experiences to draw on and nothing will be alien to me.

“When I came here in the summer, I will have played over 100 games – I have played over 100 games now – it will be a wee bit of change at first, but it’s a battle I relish. I have come through it before as a young player trying to break into a team so I know what it’s all about and I am sure it will bring out the best in me."

Asked about where his self-belief stems from, the Scotland Under-21 internationalist continued: “The young boys at St Mirren have a lot of character-building stuff to give them bigger personalities and that’s probably where it’s come from.

"As a winger you need to be really confident and every time I get the ball I want to be very direct and try to contribute something. I'm player who likes to get fans off their seats and my confidence is one of my biggest assets."

“I’m delighted and I can’t wait to get started in the summer. Obviously I have a duty to St Mirren that I have to go back and hopefully have a positive second half of the season with them and then I can’t wait to get going.

“Hopefully I can go there and have a big impact and help them get promoted and then the hard work starts really starts in the summer when I come back here.

"I have been at peace with that and that’s always been the case from the outset. It wasn’t something that was hard to get my head around and I am looking forward to the challenge.”

"Were you given a reason for your exit at Rangers?"

"Head of Youth didn't take a fancy to me, punted me down the age groups and I wasn't happy for the last few years...

Now I'm at a Champions League club that dominates Scottish football."

Looks like a promising talent, seems to be developing into quite a player at St Mirren, should be full of confidence come the summer too with the season they're having.

Watched the Dundee Utd v st mirren game a week or 2 ago, the boy was head and shoulders above everyone on the park wth the ball at his feet. Always had about 3 or 4 United players around him and he just breezed past them whenever he got the ball

Johnstone and Morgan on the wings with Christie through the middle - could be pretty exciting line up for the future !
