It's one of my favourite games from the current gen. Managed to get a perfect playthrough on my first go, and it was fun from beginning to end. There were a few technical issues here and there, but it's a game I'd recommend to anyone who owns a PS4.

A little bit about Resident Evil 7 from Eurogamer.

Resident Evil 7's demo isn't part of the full game

The Resident Evil 7 demo currently available on PS4 for PlayStation Plus subscribers isn't actually part of the full game.

Capcom confirmed this to Eurogamer earlier today, where it was also confirmed that the full game will star a different lead character than the man in the demo.

The studio noted that Resident Evil 7 has been in development since 2014.

We took a look at Resident Evil 7's demo earlier today and I found it an unclear representation of how the full game would be, but more diligent explorers than I discovered an axe - complete with an attack button and all - suggesting that there will be combat in the full experience.

Resident Evil 7 will launch on 24th January for PS4, Xbox One and PC with support for PlayStation VR.

Other bits about it I've found from various sources:

The full game will be played in first person view like the demo suggests.

It's set in a rural American town centering around a derelict plantation mansion.

It's set in present times after the events of Resident Evil 6, not as a prequel to RE6 as first reported.

The demo acts as the full games prologue meaning it does have a connection to the actual game and it's not just a tech demo.

A few unknowns/questions about the full game:

It's not clear whether the game will actually feature zombies, the enemy character in the demo doesn't look or act like one and can talk clearly, he's more like a character from The Hills Have Eyes movies (inbred hillbilly sort)

It could see a returning character as the lead protagonist sent to investigate the events of the demo, although it's all speculation at the moment it definitely makes sense as the game is a sequel and not strictly a franchise reboot.

Edit: Capcom's Koshi Nakanishi had this to say on the above:

When Resident Evil 7 does arrive next year, it will do so without much of the series' baggage. Its main playable character won't be of the "macho superhero" type — think Resident Evil 5's buffed up Chris Redfield or Resident Evil 6's Leon Kennedy. Instead, it will be someone "totally new," producer Masachika Kawata said. But it won't be someone helpless.

It's unclear whether that means the character will be totally new or the style or the character will be totally new compared to Leon and Chris.

There's several sightings of a female ghost in the demo and a newspaper in it reporting ghost sightings suggesting it could have supernatural elements implemented in the story.

There's a photograph of an Umbrella helicopter in the game with a message strongly suggesting they will be the games antagonist again.

I have the htc vive atm ..however the psvr looks good...my main concern in the 90 fps needed

I'll keep an eye on the future content with that in mind...

The vive though is mind blowing..I have a high end pc and some games still struggle with the 90 fps...

I'm pretty much sold on PS VR. All the gaming journalists/personalities I listen to are saying it's here to stay and will be huge for gaming. Not sure when I'll get it though.

There's a rumour floating about that Red Dead 2 was supposed to be announced at the end of the Sony conference but it was pulled because of the shootings in Orlando and that's why we were given a brief gameplay demo of Days Gone.

I'm a wee bit sceptical because there were plenty of other games that had people getting shot in it. It's just a rumour though.

OK. The airship. I think that's something we can talk about. Describe to me how it works. How is it triggered?

It's a reinforcement tool. Here, today, we're showing Conquest with 64 players. With Conquest, as one team is falling behind by quite a lot, they will automatically get reinforced by the airship. It's dependent on what type of level you play - on some it's the dreadnaught, on others it might be an armoured train. It comes with a number of seats and player control - the intent is to give a last fighting chance to at least catch up and give a good tight battle. We want to make it as dynamic as possible - the airship, when you manage to bring it down, it's not scripted. That adds on top of the destruction, the weather, with these dynamic behemoths.

In Battlefield 4, you had this feature - I won't say the name because I don't like it - where big, scripted things happened in levels. Have you got that kind of thing again, those big key moments that happen in levels, or is it more organic this time?

[Laughs] We have focussed on the organic Battlefield. We will do dramatic impacts, like when the airship comes down on the village on St. Quentin's Scar - we want to have those more epic events in a more dynamic way. It can happen in any way - it's more focused on intuitive and general destruction with consistency. For me, I feel it's a much more dynamic toolbox when it comes to destruction.

The game will now run on DICE's Frostbite engine which EA basically uses for all of their major releases now

Set pieces now include a new system for taking corners which removes the hit and hope feel of the last game.

Penalties now allow you to run at the ball from different angles and adjust the speed at which you run in

A brand new system introduces constant spatial analysis, increases activity off the ball, and changes the way players move, read, and react.

New options in attack give players more ways to create chances and finish in front of goal.

This was probably the most disappointing part of the conference for me, since I was expecting to see a lot more than we did.

Details:

The playable character's surname is Ryder and will be referred to as such (as was the case with Shepard in the original trilogy)

The default character is the female version of Ryder (although you can still choose your gender, race etc.). However, it's worth mentioning that some places are making it sound like there might be more than one character called Ryder. Maybe we're getting a Fallout 4 type scenario?

The game is apparently pretty far into development and will apparently release in Spring 2017

Polygon interview:

This is a story about becoming a hero," creative director Mac Walters told Polygon at E3.

The details of Mass Effect: Andromeda, the next entry in BioWare's ambitious, space opera-esque series, have largely remained obscure. It's not "Mass Effect 4," but it is a game that builds on the concepts established by the trilogy: exploration, exotic worlds and relationships. The developer's most telling look at the game so fararrived at Electronic Arts' E3 press conference.

Walters, referencing the trailer shown, had one big thing to point out: a younger cast of characters seen on-screen. Where players pick up Mass Effect As "a hero who then became a legend," Walters said, Andromeda focuses on characters who are far greener.

Walters is still tight-lipped on the plot beats of Andromeda, dropping no more than hints about the state of Mass Effect's universe in a post-Shepard era. They point to fall for further announcements, when they'll have more to share on gameplay and the conflict at the heart of Andromeda.

"We're not getting into specifics right now, but you can imagine how long it would take to — even with the best technology, travel to a new galaxy — so you can imagine this is taking place quite a distance in the future," Walters said. Before leaving, the Arks were located above Earth

Passengers on the Ark have been kept in some kind of stasis during the journey.

Mass Effect Andromeda is a story about becoming a hero

The characters will be much younger and untested, drawing from themes of feeling out of depth or like an outcast

Humanity are the aliens this time, it's the story of a stranger in a strange land

BioWare are aiming for a character that is more than just a typical space marine, someone who recognises the impact their presence is having

Instead of your character already knowing a lot about the Galaxy like Shepard, you're going to be discovering all of this stuff with them

You won't have the kind of support Shepard would have. You're not exactly a Spectre this time

The story of the game will be more personal this time, even though the scale is still grand

The trilogy will act as a foundational background, but won't be a focus. There will be explainations for new players on what Krogans are, what mass effect field are etc.

The trilogy was about a cinematic, grand, space opera with a titular character. With Andromeda they want to move away from this

Instead of saying "You are this person" it's about saying "This is your role and this is the way you can play it"

Andromeda will still be a human centric story, as it gives the player a foothold in the alien narrative

In ME1, humans found themselves to be the underdogs in a larger galaxy, and this is ultimately a core theme of Mass Effect, not just the trilogy

BioWare kept trying to solve the vehicle problem in the trilogy, but this time they've made it a core focus and tried to fix it early in development

The online component will have no impact on the main story this time. There will be more positive ties between the singleplayer and multiplayer

The core elements of branching dialogue, relationship building, exploration etc will remain intact

Andromeda will feel like you're playing Mass Effect for the first time, as the setting/characters are new and unfamiliar, yet nostalgic to returning fans

RPG elements are of course still there, allowing the player to control the story their way

BioWare aren't worried about moving on from Shepard, they believe that as long as all the core elements of Mass Effect are there, people will play it

There will be companions with 'loyalty' missions and new ways to get to know them

The multiplayer will be similar to ME3's but with more freedom, dynamic gameplay and 'chaos'

There will be more customisation than we've seen before. We can "own" our environments

Andromeda is their biggest game ever. Exploration is a major factor, similar to what they tried to achieve in ME1

Planets will have essentially one biome, inspired by planets from things like Star Wars

There will be different ways to communicate with the races of Andromeda. Diplomacy, aggressiveness, combat etc

The order in which you do quests/talk to people may also influence opinion of you and humanity

We will be able to choose male/female, but they want to go a little bit further with this. More details to come soon

The female Ryder isn't exactly the default face. There is a bit of a twist this time around but they can't say more yet

The protagonist's role will be vast, their goal is to find a new home for humanity and the other races accompanying them, requiring a character of many qualities

There will be references to the trilogy, but not so much as to flood new players with information

The way the translators will understand the languages of the Andromeda species will be explained

Aaryn Flynn (PlayStation Access and Inside Playstation)

The trip to Andromeda has taken a really really long time (hundereds of years)

The game draws parallels to today's space exploration advancements/themes

The N7 character has nothing to do with Shepard

New species. Some old, some new, some completely mysterious

Choices will affect the species you encounter

Planetary exploration is essentially the same mechanic as ME1, but much MUCH bigger/better with more freedom

There's much more to the Tempest than meets the eye

The 'Ark' is a huge part of the story, not just where Ryder wakes up

There is a sense of continuity in the Mass Effect universe, despite starting fresh in a new Galaxy

Mass Effect Andromeda is story/characters first, then with a large focus on seamless loading, exploration

The twist of Andromeda is that this time you don't really have any right to be there. The natives are going to be saying "Who are you?"

The T-shirt Mac Walters was wearing at E3 is a vague clue (I'm assuming the AI stands for ARKCON Initiative)

BioWare are determined to nail the ending this time. This one's important so I'll quote it for you guys:

“I think it’s fair to say we are very sensitive on the project about our ending. And there's a lot of internal focus testing on it as well,” Walters said. “That’s probably something we’re more aware of and we’re paying more attention to it for sure. It’s changed in that regard.”

The aim of the EA Play trailer was to showcase the new characters and complement the previous trailers

EA's other games drowned out the time for Andromeda, gameplay previews will come later

Everything from the trailer is directly from the game. No CGI, no concepts.

Squad combat is there, cover based combat is there, moment-to-moment gameplay is there

A lot of the trilogy developers are working on the new IP. The current team is a mix of old and new

The rumors of tensions at the studio are mostly true, but it's not really hurting development in any meaningful way

It's not true that gameplay features are being stripped out to meet the release date. Only modest changes along the way

This was a bit of a strange segment, so I'm going to talk about the details first, and the trailer will come after.

Details:

EA confirmed that three Star Wars games are currently in development:

Star Wars Battlefront 2 is being developed by DICE and will feature content from the new movies (due out next year)

Visceral, the studio behind Dead Space, are also developing a third person action game (you see a brief glimpse of this in the trailer). Interestingly, Amy Hennig, who was both the director & and a writer for the first three Uncharted games, is leading this project

Respawn, the studio behind Titanfall, have created a second team at the studio to work on a third person shooter Star Wars project. This team is being led by a man called Stig Asmussen, who was the game director for * of War 3 (EA obviously have a thing for ex-Sony developers)

As the trailer above shows, Titanfall 2 will have an actual single player campaign this time around.

Any new maps & modes for the multiplayer will be free

Respawn Entertainment's head of development David Wightman has confirmed that all of Titanfall 2's map pack DLC will be released free of charge. Speaking at an EA Play event in London last night, Wightman told us that the studio plans to never charge its players for either maps or modes.

"We'll definitely be supporting Titanfall 2 post-launch, and I can confirm all maps and modes we deliver post-launch will be free. We'll be talking more about post-launch plans closer to release so stay tuned for more info," Wightman explained.

The question, then, is what exactly does Respawn plan to release as paid DLC for its futuristic FPS? Although Wightman couldn't go into detail, he was keen to stress that its plan does not include any sort of "pay-to-win stuff", explaining his frustration when the balance of an online multiplayer experience is ruined by "some kid who's spent an extra £40 on the game."

The original Titanfall, of course, received an enthusiastic welcome at launch, but its playerbase fell away relatively quickly in the months that followed. Respawn is understandably keen to avoid the same scenario when Titanfall 2 launches on 28 October. Wightman puts it in slightly less prosaic terms, though. "We're doing this for the community," he explained, "not the dollars."

Fahrenheit remastered to be released on PS4 next month.

1080p PS4 Remaster of Fahrenheit: Indigo Prophecy Coming in July

The 2005 PlayStation 2/Xbox game is coming to PlayStation 4 next month, priced at $15.

E3 2016 may be over, but the news continues. Sony today announced that a remastered version of Fahrenheit: Indigo Prophecy will launch for PlayStation 4 in July.

The game, which launches digitally worldwide through the PlayStation Store on July 18, will include 1080p graphics, Quantic Dream said on Twitter. It will sell for $15. Here is the art that the developer released for the game:

A remastered version of Indigo Prophecy was released for PC in January 2015. Asked if this was the same version, the Quantic Dream account succinctly said, "nope."

The new PS4 version is being developed in part by SIEA International Software Development team.

Indigo Prophecy, developed by French studio Quantic Dream, was originally released for PlayStation 2 and Xbox in September 2005.

Quantic Dream's next game is the PlayStation 4 exclusive Detroit: Become Human. For more on that game, check out GameSpot's new coverage of the game from E3 this week.

An additional game mode called 'Flesh and Steel' will be made available depending on a certain early in the game -

Near the beginning of the game you can choose to not accept the gift and you will get zero powers or abilities, no blink or any super-natural powers so you have to play the entire game without any supernatural abilities at all.

Nuka World will apparently be the last the DLC for Fallout 4, although Pete Hines, Bethesda's main PR guy, had this to say in an interview with IGN:

"That's the final one we've announced. I would never want to say for sure it's the last one we'll ever do, but as you know we increased the Season Pass and said 'look, we're going to do more than we planned', these three are kind of the 'more than we had planned', but we did more than had planned last time, so I never want to say for sure this is absolutely, positively it - but this is what we got on the docket."

Bethesda are in discussions with both Sony & Microsoft to try and get the 2GB mod limit removed on consoles.

In an interview with Gamespot, Todd Howard, the Director of Fallout 4, admitted that the new dialogue system wasn't as successful as they had hoped it would be:

"I think our fans are used to it over time, that we do like to try new things. And we'll have some successes, you know I think the shooting in Fallout 4 is really good, I think it plays really well. Obviously, the way we did some dialogue stuff, that didn't work as well. But it was I think -- I know the reasons we tried that, to make a nice interactive conversation, but [it was] less successful than other things in the game. For us, we take that feedback, and I think long term.

Or other things we did in the game, like the choices you have in the end. When we have an opportunity with something like Far Harbor, like "Okay, how many ways can it end?" Let's give them more choice with something like that. And so it's not just a one-off, meaning Fallout 4 comes out and then we forget about it.

I think it's an ongoing thing, and I think that kind of feedback we get is really, really helpful. And you're right that everybody does have an opinion, and I think that's good."

Fallout Shelter is about to get its biggest update yet. In Update 1.6, Quests are coming to Fallout Shelter! Overseers will be able to take control of their Dwellers and travel to new locations like abandoned buildings and decrepit Vaults, or even familiar spots like Fallout 4’s Red Rocket Fuel Stop and Super Duper Mart. With this all-new Quest system, you can now assemble a group of Dwellers to take on challenges outside of the Vault, uncover legendary loot, and face off against new enemies like Radscorpions, Ghouls and powerful

Pete Hines, who handles most of the PR stuff for Bethesda, had this say in an interview with Gamespot:

"There is not a single element of Prey 2 in [the new Prey], other than aliens running amok and you're being hunted by aliens

Hines explained that Arkane Studios has broken the franchise down to that core concept and is building it back up to what it thinks Prey should be. When asked if it would be a horror game, Hines said it won't be, but it will have a "psychological element to it."

"You see hints of some of that in the trailer, but it's an immersive first-person action game," he said. "It's a systems-based game that Arkane is known for. They're known for creating really well-realized worlds where everything isn't just tangible, but there's logic and reason behind it.

"There's a reason why this space station is the way it is that you find yourself on, there's a reason for the ecology for the aliens that you see and are fighting and trying to survive."

They also announced a major shakeup with their 'One Tamriel' plan, that will apparently improve the way in which players experience the game:

With One Tamriel, we are opening up the entire playable world to everyone, no matter their level. This is a pretty big deal. One Tamriel makes the game much more grouping and social-friendly, as the player base will no longer be divided into thirds and also won't be divided by player level. The reasons we are doing this are simple: we want to make it easier for ESO players to group together, and to promote the sense of freedom to explore that Elder Scrolls games are known for. In other words, we're bringing the same auto-leveling system (called “battle leveling") that has been so successful in our DLCs to the entire game.

Here are the basics:

Characters will have their level scaled the same way that we currently scale players to the level of DLC zones (Imperial City, Orsinium, Thieves Guild, and Dark Brotherhood).

You will be able to explore the entire world in any sequence you wish - just walk across the world and you will always find appropriately leveled content.

You will be able to play and group with anyone in the game at any time (outside of PvP). No longer will you have to create a lower level character to play with a friend who has just joined the game. You will be able to group and adventure together from the moment your friend emerges from the tutorial

We are dropping all PvE Alliance restrictions. You will be free to explore of all Tamriel, including other Alliances. It is up to you how you want to role-play your character while doing this. “Silver" and “gold" versions of zones will be replaced by Cadwell quest storylines that you can do in any order you wish.

Alliance restrictions will still be enforced in all PvP areas, of course. One Tamriel will not affect the PvP systems in Cyrodiil.

In general, higher level players will be the same “level" as lower level players, but they will have far more tools in their arsenal: better gear, more abilities, and of course more Champion points.

We will adjust gear rewards to scale appropriately to make sure that there is always a way to get more powerful via crafting, questing, PvP, and dungeon/trial boss loot drops.

All Trials and Dungeons will continue with standard and Veteran difficulty modes, and you will have to be Veteran level to play veteran dungeon modes.

The Coldharbour zone will be “roped off" from players who have not yet completed the quests that lead there. However, if you are invited to a group that is already there, or travel to a friend who is there, you can immediately access the zone.

Sony today announced the PlayStation Plus lineup for July 2016.

PlayStation 4 owners are getting Furi and Saints Row: Gat out of *, while Fat Princess and Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood will be free on PS3. PlayStation Vita owners, meanwhile, can pick up Oreshika: Tainted Bloodlines and Prince of Persia: Revelation free during the month. As an extra bonus, the Paragon Starter Pack (watch a video here) will be free in July.

Just to let everyone know, Sony are holding a 'PlayStation Meeting' tonight during which they are set to announce the PS4 Slim and the PS Neo/4K (a more powerful PS4).

There's also a few rumours that we'll also be seeing a few software related announcements.

Rockstar are heavily rumoured to be making an appearance, during which they will announce Red Dead 3 and/or a Red Dead Redemption remaster

EA will apparently show some new Mass Effect: Andromeda footage

A gaming journalist called Patrick Garratt, who writes for the website VG247, is also claiming that Sony have a 'big legacy software reveal' planned as well

The event starts at 8pm UK time, and I'll post links to streams closer to the time.
