    Celtic plot move for Liverpool ace: Brendan Rodgers has made a surprise enquiry

    BRENDAN RODGERS is reportedly interested in the loan signing of Liverpool goalkeeper Danny Ward – but will face stiff competition from Huddersfield.

    Rodgers, who signed a 12-month rolling contract with the Scottish champions in May, worked with Ward when he was manager of Liverpool.

    The Northern Irish boss handed Ward his first taste of Premier League action in 2014 against Stoke when he replaced the injured Brad Jones.

    Ward was then rewarded for his efforts by signing a new five-year contract to tie him down to the Merseyside club until 2020.

    But The Sun claim the Reds want him to sign another new deal before allowing him to leave on loan again with Celtic and Huddersfield both said to be potential destinations.

    In the midst of Rodgers' sacking from Liverpool in October, Ward enjoyed a successful loan spell with Scottish side Aberdeen where he kept 13 clean sheets in 21 games for the Dons.

    Rodgers is keen to provide healthy competition for first-choice stopper Craig Gordon and is looking to bolster his ranks ahead of next season's title defence and Champions League campaign.

    He's a lot better then Bailly and we need to think long term Gordon probably has this season left at 23 years old he's only gonna get better

    Would be disappointed with Ward he looked really shaky for Wales and is only a bit part player for Liverpool Gordon on his day is far better.

    Not saw much of him.Watched an old interview with Brendan and he mentioned his team plays with 11 players and other teams play with 10 and a goalie,not sure if Gordon is good enough with his feet,possibly Brendan sees Ward as good enough as a sweeper keeper?

    He'd be a great signing, very good goalkeeper. Terrific for Aberdeen last season and much better than Gordon, a definite improvement on what we've got.

    Probably just be dembele all over again, get linked to pretty sub standard players then pull out a surprise and sign someone like mignolet or something.
