    Someone should tell him Rangers no longer exist!

    But he has a point, a very valid one. Champions league should be for that exactly, the Champions. Why does the 4th placed club in England, Italy or Spain deserve a better chance at playing there than the Celtic or even the top clubs from other leagues.

    What needs to happen is is set, that the top 2 of every league in Europe go into an unseeded qualification round(s) in which you are left with 32 teams that again, go into a completely un seeded and random draw for the 8 x 4 team groups.

    With the above, you would get more than enough big performances and shocks to completely shake things up with more than a few "smaller league" champions pulling off the results needed to get into the last 16.

    I think this would be far more exciting and far more interesting. But until the money men decide they have lined the pocket enough, this will never happen.

    Good idea though.
